  1. We had the same error after we upgrade SQL from 2005 to 2008. I changed the conect.ini file to look at \SIMS2008 instead of \SIMS2005 Hope this helps.
  2. Was in a year 6 class a couple of years ago when the teachers asks the pupils, "What materials do we mine for?" to which a pupil replied "Pot Noodle Sir!" I was in stitches.

  6. From what an Orange customer suppoprt person told me, Orange has been upgrading and merger services for the past 6 months getting ready for the public announcement, Orange has a slightly below average reception where i live and work, but have been assured that once the parent company takes control all networks mast will be combined to make a super network. We have already had all our main Node Masts upgraded here and have been waiting for them to go live. Fingers crossed ill get a better signal in my office!
  7. Jamo is correct, although you can double check on the charger itself, it will be clearly listed as Input: 100-240v

  14. We used Smart Learning for years, the odd few teachers liked it, most hated it. The best part is the odd few activities that cannot be completed. Had many problems from connection problems to corrupt databases. SL doesnt like transfering whole classes at end of the school year, i had to restart the database from a blank one virutally every year! SL promised me a patch to fix most of the issues and even claimed that they employed an Amercian company to assist them in fixing the issues. That was about 3 years ago now, guess what, no patch still! Either way, installed a new curriculum server and my school went completely to wireless laptops from year 3 onwards and i kind of, accidentially misplaced the SL disks, ooops! Honest it was an accident guv! Have not used it in well over 18 months and is now LONG forgotten thank god! I have listed it on the unapproved software list in my school so it stops them buying it again in the future!
  15. Yes, anything on the motorway above 98.7mph is a ban but he was more impressed i got a Vectra to that speed and he had admitted that i was driving perfectly safe and that there was no other vehicles on the motorway he let me off with a tell off. I was very lucky and now dont ever speed!
  16. My little baby is a Vectra SRI called Vikki, she goes very well, even the police officer said he had to toe it to keep up with me on the motorway at 1 in the morning. Perhaps 140mph was a tad fast.
  17. I got 2 fish, a Plec called Plek and the others an Angel Fish called Angel... I didnt name them though, the ex did but the names stick. On a side note, my car is called Vikki who happens to be a Vectra and she is my ultimate pet.
  18. Is there such a thing as a tablet pc with a screen bigger than 12 inches? I know Toshiba did a Tecra a few years back but cannot find any trace of it now. Any help would be good, Chris
  19. I use the same unit with a full bank of 16 access points. Works perfectly, I will add that i got the main unit for about 1100 quid and the access points are roughly 80 each. If you look around enough Netgear often give 2 access points away with thte units as well. Took me longer to plug the access points into it than configrure it, i found it very simple and Netgear have very good customer support. All that comes in at £2500 if you do your own cabling! if not add an extra 500 quid ish i would have thought, no power is needed for the access points as the whole lot is POE so your laughing really!
  20. Runs very well on my Toshiba Tecra M700 tablet. Everything works and the touch screen has better support than in Vista.
  21. We use Smart Learning, had a few bugs and unsolvable sections, works pretty well, databases tends to crash if you move your kids around classes alot, had to restart the database form scratch twice now loosing all previous data! In my opinionm Smart Learnings Tech support is okish, but have been promising me a patch to fix the problems for 4 years now! and still waiting!!!!!
  22. I had the Fronter sales guy visit yesterday. Ive never been so BORED!! and when he had actually finished his spew and insisting if we use Fronter to pay the £2000 for the training (ffs!!!) i went back to my moodle test install and shoved the Primary-School template over the top and guess what, it looked better than Fronter!!! and after some playing around i reckon i can get it working better than Fronter. Oh and btw, Fronter didnt like working on my Vista laptop with IE8!! it kept stalling, error loading pages and generally playing around. Not impressed and i definatly won't be recommending we get it, id rather take on the extra work load and develop moodle more. Thats my 2 cents and no doubt will be wrong in some way...
  23. We have approx 120 Extensa 5220 and 80 Travelmate 5320's Have no real grumbles, some are nearly 2 years old and have developed no real problems. We got the Acer Platinum 3 yr Accidental Warranty along with them so any real issues get sorted nice a quick. Only problems that occur are minor, for example: one both models the screws do come loose in the main bottom panel and the screen brackets wear loose. Both can be sorts with a screw driver ( the loose brackets is down the 2 screws located in the bottom left and right side of the screen casing under rubber sticky things) I can list the other faults now for all the laptops (not including the kids screwing up windows) x2 HD failures x1 Wireless NIC failure x6 Broken Screens x10 missing keys from the keyboard DVDRW drives come out slightly loosing connectivity with the laptop, You simply push them back in. (P.S They have one screw holding them in so they dont come out completely). x2 Power sockets pushed through the back of the casing. (P.S 20 mins and you can hot glue gun them back into place quite easily as the are NOT the soldered to mainboard jobbies) and they dont like being dropped suprisingly enough lol! All this is not bad for 200 laptops between 1 and 2 yrs old! And all issues have been sorted with Acer Warranty Support. My only grumble is that the screens come with a 100 euro excess and has to be paid up front which is a nightmare to be honest. So there you have, an honest look at Acer notebooks and are just branching into Acer Desktops (Watch this space). Chris.
