When Peter Crouch was recently asked 'What would you be if you weren't an England football player?' he replied 'A virgin..' Changed my perception of the lanky one..

God this is going to sound soooo Stalinist (those who know me will testify it's out of character)(at least i hope they will...) but the library version can't be used in schools only in the library or at home. The school edition which Ireland have subscribed to is very different to the library edition, lesson plans, interactive curriculum games, study guides, curriculum mapping, etc. etc. Adam

Looking for some advice in getting up to speed with the breed of linux (debian i believe) that comes installed on the eepc (900 series). Can anybody recommend a decent book that covers the basics such as file system, installing apps etc - have a reasonable technical ability (ex MCSE, CNA) but treated Linux a little like swine flu in the past. Cheers Adam

The original Stig was Perry McCathy but he blew it when he revealed it was him in his biography. Shumi was used just for this one as he was the guest and as others have pointed out Ferrari are quite protective of the FXX's. It was fairly obvious when it went 7 seconds quicker than the Gumpert that somebody 'special' rather than the normal Stig was driving. The normal Stig has been one person since McCathy and is a fairly well known 'antipodean' GT driver...

Unfortunately this is a recurring issue as most publishers will operate using DRM to track usage and so even removing the image instantly will not generally change the situation legally. The advice that Russ gives is spot on but having been drawn into a discussion with a group of secondary schools and their LA ultimately there is not a lot that can be done as ignorance is no defence. The LA group in question had two secondary schools pulled up, both challanged it and were presented with details of where the image was lifted from, when it was done and how long it had been present on the school web site without permission... So it makes sense to challange it to make sure it is genuine if nothing else. To back up what localzuk rightly states - the rule of thumb is if you can't see any copyright information then assume it is copyrighted and only use resources that you can produce a license for. We ran some twilight sessions last year on copyright as part of our e-safety campaign, if this is something people want then let me know and we'll fire them up again.

Experience from another school where bizzarely they created the entry in wikipedia about the school but it constantly got vandalised by pupils and ex-pupils (although i don't think they experienced an axe-wielding librarian), subsequently the network manager was tasked with constantly monitoring it and ammending where necessary (appropriate use of time..?Mmm..). The school had editorial rights removed on the article by wikipedia due to 'consistant editorial abuse' even though they were the originator, so be careful if you don't get into this crazy situation.

Hi Dos_Box, Do you know who we would approach about exhibiting (if it's not too late..)? We have (finally ) managed to start development on a Moodle federated search mechanism and single sign-on for Britannica and really could do with a platform for 'proper' users to look at and comment on it, either filling us with happiness or dispair at our efforts.. Hope you can help, or at least point me in the right direction.. Adam

What would yu say is the most unreliable modern product?

It's a HTC touch pro.. Great phone apart from the battery life and occasionally not wanting to ring (which is a blessing sometimes)
