We use LiveDrive, I'm unsure of the cost as the MD has a reseller account. Not much I shouldn't think. -
How do you successfully manage your backups and...
fairm010 replied to Nausing's topic in Cloud Services
We backup all four of our servers (Including SIMS) to an encrypted NAS daily then back that up to the cloud weekly. Matt -
Off to Tenerife on the 17th for a week. I cannot wait, haven't been abroad for a few years! matt

Thanks AngryTech, I have agreed with the person that built it that I will host it as an internal website rather than an HTA. Hopefully this wont happen again! Matt

We have a custom written piece of behavior monitoring software shared from a shared drive. Staff require full write access over this folder for it to work. Last night we had a child who managed to right-click on the desktop icon and click Open File Location and delete the data folder. Is there a way to remove the Open File Location entry from the context menu? Disabling the context menu is not an option as staff seem to have an emotional bond with it! We are looking into how the child gained access to the staff login unattended. Its an hta based bit of software so i am thinking we could host it on our IIS server to completely work around the issue? Matt

Of course, I'm at another site at the moment, I'll upload tonight. Matt

Fast way to transfer data from nas to externall hdd
fairm010 replied to MattDLEA's topic in How do you do....it?
Does your NAS have a quick copy facility? My NAS has a USB port and a button to press and it copies all data to the attached HDD. -
VPN only here. If you want to save on your desktop/My docs thats fine but staff are aware that its not backed up. Most prefer to use the VPN as they have access to all the curriculum software. Matt

Expand Computer or User, there should be options called Policies or Preferences. Like I said I gave up and used IE9 as IE10 just wasn't playing ball with anything.
-
Do you have server 2008? Should be under policies in GP editor.

I had this the other day, read you had to use preferences not Internet explorer maintenance now. I downgraded to IE9 and used the IE10 blocker.

Thanks Zag, I've already put some in. Thanks for the great bit of code!!
-
Right! After some headbanging and HTML lessons ive knocked this up! Its a combination of both Zag's code and Sonofsantas code. I think its quite good! Tell me what you think! Matt

@zag Ive got that setup and working. Does it refresh automatically? If a server was to go down would it pick it up straight away or would a refresh be needed?
-
@zag That is brilliant, ive wanted something like that for myself to quickly see the status of things, thankyou! @sonofsanta That is exactly what I want, ill use that. Thankyou!

I am planning to put this on the main page of our helpdesk so when they go to make complaints that they can't email pictures of LOL cats to their friends they can see i'm dealing with it Could you possibly post the code for your traffic light page? Im just going to put basic systems eg: Servers up and active, email, VPN. Matt

That was my first thought. I might start trying to code that when i get home. Its been a while since i built something from scratch. I was wondering if there are any pre-made things out there. Thanks!

No idea where this has to go, move if needed. I am looking to make a webpage that would be hosted internally that is a "System Status" page, very much like whats at the top here: Mojang | Support Center so staff can get at a glance the status of things like: Network Status, Email System, VPN. Preferably something I can control from the office, I don't need it automated as that's a bit overkill for what I want. I found this, don't know if its relevant: Stashboard: The open source status dashboard. I have knowledge of HTML and web design but thats my limit so Python is way over my head! Somebody please help! Fake Windows Update prank website
fairm010 replied to AngryTechnician's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
GENIUS! Found this sitting on there too: BSOD -
Saw it the other day. A very good film I thought, a bit Hollywood at times with 10 minute shots of Tom Cruise in the sunlight but the CGI is amazing! Also the story line can be quite touching. Just the right amount of shooting, riding, flying, naked women for the blokes:P. I'm no film critic so no in-depth review from me. All I will say is its well worth the price! Matt
