@3s-gtech I'm going to try enabling the administrator account and using that to make the default profile. From what Google tells me I might get lucky. @morganw Nothing hidden apart from the default partition win7 makes. @TechieWils Yes I've set the answer file to keep the drivers and that works fine. I'll double check the fog setting when I'm back there next week. Thanks everyone for their help with this

A very useful guide indeed! I've followed it so far as I already had my reference workstation made and I didn't go with adding the driver pack as my machines are the all HP 7900's but with a few different size hd which is why I need fog to resize but I'm still getting the same error when imaging The only other problem is the default profile is not configured correctly. Before syspreping there is only one admin account working which I set up as I want the default profile to be but although I use Copyprofile TRUE in the answer file it's not working. On the reference machine the administrator and guest accounts are both disabled so I'm assuming sysprep will take the settings from the only working account?

@plexer: Sounds like the sort of system I had in mind. Is the server dedicated for just for the CCTV and what spec is it?

HT wants a CCTV system to monitor the outside and an IP system seems the modern way to do this. So is it just a matter of connecting the cameras to the network using PoE and use a dedicated PC to record the images? For instance would either of these cameras work ok? I'm finding it very irritating that the EMBC portal logs me out after a short period of inactivity and was wondering if there's any way to keep signed in as with more sites being blocked I have to sign again a number of times each day. Also is there really a need to block Kaspersky support (classed as sales), The Book People (sales again) and Misco but I see Amazon is not blocked.

I've now got fog up and running and love the extras you do with fog like memory and hd testing to name a few. I'm now ready to sysprep my first win7 machine so before I go ahead and do that I took an image and tried restoring it to an identical machine just to make sure the image works. Everything looks ok till the machine boots and I get the message When I uploaded the image I set the image type to single partition (NTFS only, resizable). Is this incorrect?

This might not work in your case as we don't use a VLE but I've set my schools to email users when their password is about to expire and keep a log of said emails.

The only user account I made was called user with a password. When I use sudo it's asking for the root password but I didn't set a password for user root. How can I find or change the root password?

So I've installed Ubuntu 12.04 and almost finished installing Fog. The Fog user guide says to change the bind-address line to that of the Fog server but I'm unable to save the config file as it's read only and root owns the file. What can I do to correct this?

So I want to try my hand at FOG but as I've never used Linux before I'm a little unsure which Linux version to use. Reading the FOG docs I see it recommends Ubuntu and I was wondering if the new beta Ubuntu 12.04 will work with FOG? Thanks.

Thanks for the in depth reply. This all came about because the local users need to access the print server which is on the member server, the file access was just my method of testing as it was quicker than accessing the printers With your reply in mind I've made a dummy read only share on the print server and put a batch file on the pc desktop which maps the share so creating the authentication. I can now add the printers without problems.

Just to make it a little more interesting I have found that the Administrator account can use file/print services of both the DC and member server when logged on using a domain or local account but a local user can only access files on the member server if they use domain\username when mapping a drive. I've made another admin account that's identical to the Administrator and that is giving the same problems as a standard user.

Could someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong as one of the servers is not playing ball for local users. In a nutshell I’ve got 2 servers, a dc and a member server both have file and print roles and both are running 2003. A user logs onto the domain and can access file and print services on both servers. User logs off and back on again as a local user using the same username and password. User can still use file and printing services on dc but member server gives this error: How do I fix it so local users can print to member server as well?

It's just getting old and dim. It had a lamp change last year but I don't think it will last another year so I'm planning to replace it this summer.
