@FN-GM which policy sets outlook to configure the profile?

Powering on is ok by hand but I want to put the box out of the way so didn't want to use a monitor or keyboard and I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Hi, How can I enable remote desktop on ubuntu 12.04 so I can remote in from a win7 machine? It's just that I have fog setup on ubuntu and as I don't leave the server on all the time I was wanting to power down the machine remotely otherwise I'm going to need to leave a monitor and keyboard attached just to turn the thing off.

I'm still stuggling with this software on the old machines even though I've disabled most of the modules so I thought I'll try an old version but the download page only has version 8. Does anyone have a link to version 6? Edit: I've found the link!

All stable with no blue screens so I'm guessing that problem is fixed. Thanks again everybody for your help

The server is now back up and running. The diagnostics test didn't find anything wrong but it couldn't test the network card just that it was connected. The network drivers have been changed and the server has been running for 30 minutes without any problems but time will tell.

That's a very good point. I didn't need to do this as I told sysprep to keep the existing drivers as all the machines are of the same model.

It it worth me trying to repair in safe mode? Edit: Dell support advice was to use last known good config which restarted the system then run the extended diagnostics which is running now

The server is 2 years old so is still in warranty. Just hope when I call Dell tomorrow they don't say I should reinstall the OS.

Yes thanks everyone I really appreciate your help. I would be stuck without it. @Geoff Memtest 4.20 running now at 18% and all clear so far. @cromertech I tried to get into safe mode this morning but it said no domain controller was available.

This is getting even worse. I've removed the Dell NIC drivers, rebooted and started to install the Broadcom drivers it blue screened and restarted. On getting to the "loading Windows " it blue screened again and again. I'm now at the system recovery option screen and don't know what to do next!

I had removed the UPS cable and it still restarted twice over lunch so I'm now trying to update the network drives but not having much luck. The server is a Dell T710 running 2008r2. It has Broadcom NIC and it is listed as BCM5709C NetXtreme II GibE (NDIS VBD Client). The driver version says 5.2.14.0 17/12/2009. I've used the update driver button in device manager but it said I had the latest drivers and I've downloaded the Broadcom NetXtreme II Base Driver Dell Update Package version 14.2.2 from the Dell site but I'm getting the error "The update package is not compatible with your system configuration"

Thanks everybody. I unplugged all the USB cables and inserted them one by one but when I plugged in the UPS I got a blue screen so I turned everything off including the UPS and back on again. Now the UPS is back in and no sign of problems so far. Edit: Maybe I should leave the UPS cable out as I'm not going to be here untill tomorrow and I don't want the server in a restart loop!

Everything looks ok in device manager whith no yellow excamation marks. Is it just a matter of replacing drivers in the hope I'll get the right one? USB mouse, keyboard and network appears to be working ok.

The only USB devices in use are mouse, keyboard and UPS cable

Been called from my other school today as the server keeps going offline. Server is 2008r2 and event log shows 6 bugchecks but I don't know what I'm looking for. Could anybody help please?

We have just bought 3 years of Kaspersky so I don't think we will be changing it just yet. I did look at ESET and Vipre but as Kaspersky was £5 for 3 years it won hands down. Vipre was £15 for the same cover and ESET even more.

No I don't think it is. It looks more like it's scanning with the hd light lit solid.

Do you mean that it makes the client run very slow? I installed this over half term an now having problems with the older machines running slow. Has anybody got advice to which component I can safely disable? So far i have disabled the vulnerability monitor but that still leaves file antivirus, startup control, privilege control, device control, web control, web antivirus, system watcher, firewall, network attack blocker and KSN all enabled so I assume it is one or more of these component causing the slowdown.

This is the disk info after imaging As you can see the end of sda2 is 1 cylinder more than before imaging. I've taken another image this time with fog set to multiple partition single disk and that works fine on the desktops so just sending that to a different type of DC7900 to check that works. Edit: Well the image works with the other type of DC7900 so I'm happy with that. While I was playing with fog I reinstalled win7 deleting the partitions and letting win7 create a new one. Fdisk listed the partitions as shown in the first screenshot. I took an image using single partition single disk but when reimaging the client wouldn't boot and gave the same error as before so it looks like I must use the multiple partition option.

That was before imaging. I'll reimage and report back.

Had a big rush job on so not had time to do any further testing the profile but running fdisk -l seems to give an error. So it looks like the hidden partition is stuffed

And it's not just France that has banned speed cameras as Switzerland and Liechtenstein have made them illegal too.
