I've got a Drift Ghost S but primarily use it on my bike, if I was going to use it in the car on a regular basis I would probably look for one with a G sensor, that way you don't have to remember to turn it on and off, it will just save the last 5 minutes of footage when a high-G event is detected. You can get them with inbuilt GPS which can show speed etc. which can be useful for insurance etc. I would check low light performance, a lot of driving in this country in winter will be in darkness and if the camera is rubbish at low light levels there is no point.

I went through a similar process in a similar time frame to yourself, I don't actually think we considered Aerohive at the time, it was between Meraki, Ruckus and HP (I think). There were some concerns at the time with Ruckus not working in a school we knew about and HP just didn't seem particularly interested whereas we were impressed with Meraki. It's largely been a good experience since then with Meraki, the cloud management is easy but still fully featured and the only issues we have had seem to be due to some dodgy PoE injectors we used. They aren't cheap but we haven't seen any of the DHCP problems you mention. In terms of setup we have three SSIDs, a School WiFi, a Student WiFi and our Radius SSID which authenticated school devices connect to. All wireless devices get assigned an address from the same DHCP scope (which is different to wired devices). To be fair we don't have many staff or students who need to roam with wireless devices but certainly as far as smart phones and tablets go they have no difficulty handing off to other APs as you move around school. Does Aerohive use a similar licences scheme to Meraki? We pay for a 3 year licence per device and will need to renew this otherwise we can't use the APs, I think it's roughly £110 per device. Obviously we had to buy the APs initially as well.

Second the optimate idea, I use one for my bike and it keeps the battery conditioned even when the temp drops to brass monkey level. The one for my bike also claims it can re-condition slightly damaged batteries so might be worth looking out for that feature if your battery has had a battering.

We looked at Alto when we signed our current agreement but it was far better to go through the Government purchasing framework and get Konica Minolta to provide machines direct, a fair bit cheaper than Alto.

Have you considered the Drift Ghost S ? Drift Ghost-S | Drift Action Cameras I use one on my crash helmet because I didn't want a big rectangular GoPro and they are comparable in terms of price and quality I think.

I've just thrown away the box so I guess I won't know for sure, in their defence they do sound pretty good and I am wearing them on a motorbike so it's not the most acoustically facilitating environment to start with. Thanks all for your help.

It was eBay, and they were only about £11 cheaper than normal price so it seemed like it might be legit. On Amazon they are £33, if it were any more expensive I would have definitely not used eBay!

I wonder if anyone can help, if you've got a genuine pair of these can you tell me if there should be some bare metal showing on the Y piece where the headphone cables separate? You can just see on the attached photo a bit of copper showing. I I've followed a guide on how to spot them but whilst some aspects look genuine the metal showing worries me a bit. I've not had chance to listen to them yet so I suppose the proof may be in the pudding!

What these guys said ^^ I haven't rooted my current phone but experimented with several roms on a previous HTC Desire thanks to Titanium Backup, it really does make it easy peasy. I think I settled with the Oxygen rom in the end because it was minimalist and clean but they seem to have stopped development a while back. Cyanogen was good though.

Just switched from Sophos to ESET, ESET is very good, easy to set up and seems to work without arguments.

We have occasionally had issues with the callback service requiring intervention but generally it's fairly robust.

On our Lightspeed Rocket system I've created reservations for mobile devices and then added these IPs in under Policy Management -> Assignments and given them the appropriate level of filtering (Staff, Student etc.) The only things I have had a problem with is Youtube on a particular Staff MacBook, I've ended up having to exclude it from filtering entirely.

I think when I get chance I will start changing them for original Meraki items, if these are supplying overvoltage over a long period they might causing damage. I think a suck it and see approach for now. Thanks for the advice though.
