Yes I'm aware it's a redundant acronym. We are in Leeds and are looking for a company to do our PAT testing but I have heard many horror stories about companies unwrapping new cables etc. just to charge an extra 50p. Has anyone used a good company recently?

I've seen the point made in this thread about if the iPads are good for education why doesn't the school buy them. Well 1:1 teacher to student lessons would be good for education but there is no way the school can afford it. School budgets being what they are and given the growing prevalence of smartphones and tablets amongst students I think we are doing a disservice to students if we don't try and integrate these technologies into their education. As it stands we have most schools with the traditional desktops and laptops setup; as soon as the students leave school the majority of their internet consumption will likely take place on smartphones and/or tablets and they are often more skilled in their usage than school staff. If we can harness these skills and leverage them in an educational setting it could lead to outstanding lessons with the right teacher. I think iPads are the popular choice but they have a lot going for them. They are locked down and the quality process for apps is pretty good, they have large scale acceptance amongst students already (being a desired device means they are more likely to take care of them). I'm not saying you couldn't do a similar job with other tablets but Apple certainly have some sort of head-start.

Whilst this won't help you too much we use Konica Minolta devices and their Docupro software, users log in with their AD credentials and can scan to home folder so it is doable.

We use a lightspeed rocket filtering solution, by default users get KS3 filtering but if they access a 'blocked' page they get the option to login and get the appropriate level of access. There is a way to do a one-time permanent authentication for mobile devices but we haven't needed to do this so I can't comment on its effectiveness.

In case you haven't heard about this already this is the ability to share PS4 games with family and friends. From what I have read it's possible to do the following. I've got a PS4 as has my friend B. I make HIS console my Primary PS4 and my OWN console my Secondary. B does this in reverse (he makes MY Console his primary and his own console his secondary). I then buy Call of Duty 18 and install it on my own console (which is set as my secondary). I can then play it as long as I have an internet connection, my friend however can play it offline on his console. Friend buys Resident Evil 22 and installs it on his console, he has to be connected to internet to play it but I can play it offline if I wish. I also think both of us can play the same game (which has only been bought once of course) against each other on multiplayer. I'm going to try and persuade my friend to give this a go but wondered if anyone has set it up already?

Hmmm, it was shaping up to be a good buy. There is one I am going to look at with Grip Control (which seems to be as rare as hen's teeth), it's meant to make it almost as good as 4WD in the snow/mud but I agree, tyres are important. I had a Freelander 2 for a while and that was absolutely unstoppable in the snow, bloody steep incline with 8 inches of snow? Don't mind if I do! I'd love one of the Dacia Dusters but the diesel 4WD versions are out of my budget and they are too new to have many on the used market.

I'm thinking of changing my car again, looking at crossovers and the 3008 seems to stand out for economy as well as general spaciousness and comfort. Has anyone got one? What's it like to live with? I'm pretty tall as well and I did read it wasn't great for tall drivers?

One option is to look for any upgraded OEM units from the same range, you sometimes get multi-tiers of ICE in a range from the bog basic to BOSE etc. If it's an OEM unit it should be a straightforward swap.

'lightening fast speed' combined with 'feel the real & amazing experience of using the tablet more deeply' make me think it's a bit dodgy.

If we got some of the discounts the USA got I wouldn't mind but we get the British version, for example MS (USA) are doing the Surface for $199 or £121 to you and me. MS (UK) however will spank you for £279.

We use a system from Paxton, Net 2 Access which was installed by Gough & Kelly, we have mag locks on the 'external' doors which are released by presenting your chipped Mifare card to a reader (which simultaneously clocks you in). We have it linked to our fire system which then prints a roll call list in the event of an activation. Seems to work quite well, we only use it for staff and Post 16 at present and we've few problems generally. The biggest issue has been getting staff to use it, some staff are reluctant as they feel it is questioning their 'professionalism'. You can set different zones with different times the doors will operate, for example we only give our Post-16 students 'Out' access at one particular door during school hours whereas the site team cards can access any door any time.

Might be worth doing, I remember them mentioning a school in Wales, If it can work there it might be credible!

Well I got a reply, they aren't launching properly until BETT so have limited literature but here is a shot of their overview The chap said: "Ultimately our solutions will reduce your electricity bills for everything that is plugged into our system, from 50%-80% depending on technology. Unless the energy companies keep ramping up the prices of course! Might be profitable in a couple of years!
