Display and abrupt shutdown issues on XP (SP3) laptop
mac_shinobi replied to canuck's topic in Windows
Basically a photo or video clip using a camera as Arthur said already If you have a tin of compressed air or something similar, blow out any dust and debris out of where the vents are for the heatsink and fan unit. Generally on the rear left corner Just wondering if this is blocked or clogged up thus making all the heat build up and making the onboard nvidia graphics over heating etc ? @Arthur - what do you think to maybe doing the below ? Also with the age of that laptop if you are confident enough then may be worth while cleaning off the thermal paste or pad materials off the cpu and gpu and heatsink and re apply and put back together etc ?? Just as a thought ? -

Would be an idea to make a full backup of this registry key before following the guide(s) but I would say to Remove the upper and lower filters and reboot windows , something along the lines of this : The CD drive or the DVD drive does not work as expected on a computer that is running Windows Vista Also If you have any other applications ( multiple ) that use the optical drive for burning discs etc then maybe remove all of these programs before hand ie imgburn / deep burner / nero / cd burner xp etc and then follow the guide on removing the upper and lower filters and reboot and try again Found this MS KB as well : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

Good luck and would be good to stay in touch if thats possible

Not a firewall issue either in built windows firewall or maybe a 3rd party from your installed anti virus solution that may be blocking traffic etc ? If you stop the av services for a few mins and try again , is it still the same ?

Think Air Server on windows has a list of pre reqs see here : AirServer | What pre-requisites are needed on my PC?
-
Ive never tried over one of those cables so not a clue. I have x mirage on os x and when I was looking it was between air server and x mirage ( as these were cheaper than getting the cable kit from apple / an apple tv ) Software solutions seem to work with pretty much anything I have tried If he defo wants the cable kit solution then get it and try it Normally on the buy it page on apples site there is a question and answer section along with some reviews etc. See what others have said or look on amazon as am sure amazon sell them to and lots of reviews on amazon Maybe someone else has had the av kit and can comment further on this

http://www.tomsguide.com/us/tv-connector-adapter-guide,news-18345.html How do I connect an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to my TV? Apple sells a Lightning Digital AV Adapter that accomplishes the same thing. (A 30-pin version of the adapter is also available if you have an older iOS device.) This is essentially an HDMI adapter for your iOS device: On one end, there's a Lightning plug (or 30-pin adapter for older devices) and on the other is an HDMI port. Use any HDMI cable to go from the adapter to your TV's HDMI port. The TV doesn't need to support MHL. The $49 Lightning adapters work with all iPhones, iPads and iPod touches with the Lightning port. The $39 30-pin digital AV adapter requires an iPhone 4, iPad 2 second generation, or iPod touch fourth generation or later. Either the above or if he already has a computer connected to his tv he can install an air sharing server type app ie air server ( http://www.airserver.com ) or buy an apple tv

Had a small accident at work a year or two ago with a work colleague and didn't go through the insurance company however I did get all the details from the other person ie contact details, there car reg plate number, make and model of there car and also photos of damage done to both cars Then advised my insurance company that the accident had occurred and that we were dealing with it and weren't going through insurance but was just a quick courtesy call to let them know that it had happened so they had a note of it on there system. Got it all sorted out and it hasn't effected my NCB etc

On Richer Sounds site ticked the LG Option, Then Ticked the option for screens between 39" to 45" and sorted by price : All TVs | LCD TVs | Plasma TVs | Televisions | Richer Sounds
-
Ive just recently gotten the LG 47 LB650V from Richer sounds and great tv set but not had a smart telly before and maybe just me being impatient but find doing anything using the remote control can be a bit slow, maybe thats normal for smart tv's Got it when it was on offer for aprox £470 It is 1080P , smart 3D TV and I believe has an IPS Screen which is great !!

If you can deal with it between yourselves and use a reputable place to repair the damage(s) then they should get one year warranty on the repairs so they can go back to the place where the car was repaired if they have any issue(s) As long as you and said teacher are ok to sort it out this way then I don't see any problems. Like you say if you do go through insurance then you lose NCB etc Also like @abillybob said ref seeing how much it will cost so maybe get a few quotes if that is ok with the Teacher, unless the place they know is ok price wise and quality of work done etc.

Things not printing off one printer.
mac_shinobi replied to abillybob's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
What OS is on the server and client? What type of printer drivers and versions are being used on the server and for the clients ? How was the print que and printer drivers setup on the server to be used for the clients ? Regardless of os client side I presume it is fine for other staff, Just the one user that is having issues ? -
Is the malware apart of there recovery discs so if you were to re install the os using the recovery discs ??
