I've had two jobs in education and 3 in the private sector. Although the education jobs were fine I'd never move back to education, too many opinions (everything is a debate) and where I worked there was a weird us and them feeling between teaching staff and support staff. Where I work now, its really professional and there's money to burn which is nice.

I cant go either Although I'm out of education now so can I still be involved? -
I've just done the ITIL foundation, it concentrates completely on how service desks work i.e. the process of calls coming in to resolution's. Its mind numbingly boring.

How do you manage your Client PCs
RobD replied to ITGURU's topic in Network and Classroom Management
We use it here and haven't had any issues, its far better than our previous solution and picked up literally hundreds of virus's when we first implemented it. My suggestion would be to block port 25 on your firewall for everything except exchange as a safe measure. -
Trying to upgrade Vcenter 5.5 to 6.0
RobD replied to Badaz52's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
I'm guessing the time is either set by a DC or by the host itself, so may be worth checking those first. You could try and stop the service but I'm not sure it'll help, to be honest if you start again you could probably get all this done in a hour! -

Urrgh, sounds like a new vSphere server to me. Unless you can work through this: VMware KB: Recovering from a failed upgrade of vCenter Server 5.1 or 5.5 to 6.0 -

Trying to upgrade Vcenter 5.5 to 6.0
RobD replied to Badaz52's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
No you shouldn't need to do it via command line. When you open vsphere client on your PC, just change the IP/Name bit to the name of the host that vsphere server is hosted on. -

You'll need to connected directly to the host via the vsphere client and then update it. -

Hi All, So we're running vCenter 5.5 with SQL Express and we've reached the limit meaning on occasion express crashes causing loads of problems (citrix, veeam etc). I've patched the problem by clearing logs etc and was thinking of moving the DB to full SQL on another server but then I read v6 of vCenter will upgrade the Express DB to vPostgre with a larger capacity. Have any of you migrated your vCenter or could add anything I should think off? Thanks RobD

I've used this to test PC's before, not wonderful but may help.

Could you not create a trust between the domains and then use the move remote mailbox request??

We dont use Cisco but I've found the course invaluable, most of the CLI commands are transferable to HP kit and its filled in some gaps I didn't realize I had. I'm doing self study via CBT nuggets but Global Knowledge have a London based center which is good: Cisco - Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching Boot Camp (CCNAX - Accelerated) (CCNABC) - globalknowledge.co.uk

There's one here but I've not tried it! I use PDQ Deploy (free) to push it out.

The certificates are fine, its their support I'm not keen on. There's always a considerable wait and then I doubt what they have to say.

Looking at the PDF (page 3) it seems as if you can although it may depend on the model of switch. You should be able to telnet to the switch otherwise.

We configure Spanning Tree protocol on all our switches to stop this from happening. We did learn the hard way though....two days down until we found the culprit!! http://www.hp.com/rnd/support/manuals/pdf/release_06628_07110/Bk2_Ch5_STP.pdf

We use GoDaddy, they're rubbish.

Try the Enterprise or Schema Admin.

We use Officeworx in Cheltenham and have always been really happy with their work.
