I just noticed that I got Neg Repped by someone over my wish for snow! And yet, they weren't brave enough to put their name to it??? So sad! So petty! Yep...I'd STILL love to see some snow, and so would my 6 year old son!! To whomever it was......Neg rep me again! But at least this time have the cojones to put your name up!!!

oooOOOoo Sorry about this, but....... When I was on basic training at RAF Swinderby (1986) I was standing in a field, with the rest of my training flight, when we started to hear a roar.... Our Sgt, whose name escapes my, but could have been Kineston, said "Lads, you are about to witness something special" A couple of minutes later that roar had turned almost deafening, and a Vulcan flew directly overhead, at about 500ft.....Spectacular! (This thread seems to be turning into a Mango reminisces thread....Apologies!!!) I'd also say that in the preview, the dots were spaced out a LOT more than when it gets posted properly!!! They should have been MUCH wider than that!!!

In a previous career, I was an Aerospace Systems Operator on the R.A.F. (That's where the Aerospace, of my name, comes from!) This basically meant that I was working in radar. The radar would turn every 15 seconds, so that was the refresh rate......a typical airliner would make a track like this.... ........................ An SR71, coming into our airspace, and getting ready to land at Mildenhall or Lakenheath would look something like this . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ........ There was nothing quite like seeing that baby come down the airway. I was also fortunate enough to fly simulators in the Air Force, and this was just one of the many that I flew. Seems that there is a bug (it IS beta after all!!) where the facility to swype drops out.... You try to input and the track is there, but then a blue outline goes around the text box, and nothing appears. Should this happen to you.... Swap back to your normal input method, and type a text.....once this has gone, go back to options and make Swype your keyboard, and it will work again!

I seem to have lost the actual swype function.... Don't know what I've done, but it no longer accepts the word!!! Will investigate!!

Hmmmmm....sounds like a challenge!! Don't know of this is more bizarre, but it did happen! Many years ago, when I was about 14, I was out in the garden listening to Wimbledon, on the radio. I was lying in the sun on one of the old fold up beds. Anyway, after a while it was getting rather warm outside, so I thought I'd better get in and out of the sun before I burnt. (This was a couple of years AFTER I'd been on a family holiday to Malta, and burnt my shoulders sooo severely that in the morning, they were a mess of blisters! Cue:Rest of holiday wearing t-shirts and not swimming! But I digress!!!) I folded up the bed and started for the back door. As I was dragging the bed along, it jolted and popped out of my grasp. The serated joint ran straight down the back of my calf, and felt like a scratch. I looked and saw a tiny blood drop at my achilles area, and continued on thinking no more. Then I got indoors, put the bed away and walked into the kitchen. My mum's yelp told me that something was wrong! There was now a thin red line all down my calf.....so I investigated! I was able to pull apart the skin, from just behind the knee, down to my achilles and get a fresh look at Biology IN ACTION! There was the muscle ....There is the achilles tendon .....There is quite a lot of blood! Strangely, I didn't go to hospital, because the cut was so fine that it knitted itself back together. I do, however, have a scar to this day, to remind be not to be so stupid again! I shall be at BETT 2011 should anyone require the necessary proof of scar!!!!!!

cp....Don't give up, as something will come along. I was in much the same situation, 2 years ago, but with less quals. However, I applied for a couple of jobs and got nowhere...started to think I'd made a mistake, as experience seemed to count for EVERYTHING! But then, a network manager took a punt on me. Why? Because he could see that I had enthusiasm. I've been here ever since, and the more I learn, the more my NM knows that he's gonna lose me, one day! BUT, the crucial thing is that he never stops trying to teach me, and help with my studies. Keep trying, don't let the current situation trouble you too much because someone soon WILL take a punt....and be very glad that they did!

I, personally, love eating meat.... Just last week I had delivered to my house (on a farm estate) a brace of pheasant, freshly shot the previous day. Did they experience pain? Of course they did. Did I enjoy the meal? Of course I did. I have no qualms about eating meat. I am aware of the processes that it goes through, and always try to buy local or good quality meat. I don't pretend to have tried vegetarianism (And that is not a dig at anyone, before you all start!!) and quite frankly, it doesn't appeal to me. Give me venison over lettuce, any day of the week. That is MY personal taste. I would not foist it on anyone else, but think that if you can make an informed choice, either way, then you should do what YOU want, and not be brow-beaten by either side of the argument. Yep....very true.... But I have a wife who is a Health and safety Officer, and a lot of what is pedalled as is actually there to protect people. For instance.... Do you not think this is more to do with common sense than any ambulance-chasing lawyers/Accidents4You website? 1 person gets injured in a fall.....Why put someone else in danger? If you WANT to try and stop someone falling, good for you...but don't expect the Council to pick up your health bill. But that's away from the OP....

I'd love to see more of the white stuff, over Suffolk way! We had some, which was enough to keep me out of work for 2 days, but I'd like to wake up on Monday with about 2 foot!!! Saturday, I have to be at a wedding in Kent, so don't want any before then! Selfish, I know, but sorry all!!!

oooOOooo I also forgot that I went to my son's xmas play, the other night, where they had a full band on stage. Anyway, the drummer's kit collapsed, and I saw someone get hit on the head by a cymbal. I went over to treat him, with emergency first aid, but we ended up calling an ambulance, as he had percussion....

Ok, ok, ok...I'll pop a quick post in to explain! I'm so busy that it's gonna be hard to post at all over the coming 10 days! Firstly, tomorrow, I am going to be stripping out a classroom, of all the ancient ICT equipment, ready for brand spanking new PC's, monitors, etc etc etc to go in. Once in, I shall be spending the rest of the day dragging the image down....Should be able to do all 15 at the same time, and by the time I've got the last one up and running, off WDS, the first one should've completed! Then, next monday, I will be doing exactly the same thing, but in a classroom of 20 PC's. Ditto all above! Next Tuesday, I shall be at my wifes' grandmothers funeral....being a rock for my missus....And I wrote ROCK...Nothing else!! Hopefully, at some point, there will be loads of snow too!! Oh..and I forgot the wedding, this weekend, which is 150miles away! Phew...I need a lie down now!!!

I've had it a couple of days, now, after getting my invite. *WARNING* It is a 10meg apk, 10meg installer, and 10meg of other files and such. So you need a HUGE chunk of internal memory to get it running. However, once you get it in...it really is a "game-changer"! It is incredibly easy to use, and even though it's only beta, it is very polished. Once they manage to bring the install down to a reasonable size, then I think it would be a definite purchase....and I've always said I'd spend nothing on apps!!! They have said, on their forums, that they will be looking to drop the size of the download. Once that happens, I'd advise everyone to get it...It IS that good!

The good thing about being in my 40's is that I don't have to pay any attention to all of this rubbish, unless I really want to! X-Factor? Load of garbage! The only thing that bothers me is the amount of airplay that these idiots receive after they've been on the show. Yet another program designed for the lowest common denominator.....which will make millions for Simon Cowall, as people vote for their "favourites" just to see the "competition" changed so that their "vote" doesn't actually count! Anyway....I much prefer Strictly.......LOL!!!

But that may be the point? Maybe DAZZ would like to try a different sphere entirely? Something that still involves working with IT and Gadgets, but in a different environment? At 22, it has to be worth a go....I just wish I was still 22, and could take a risk like that. It was hard enough taking the dive into IT at 39!!

I know that I'd find it hard............ It would be like "selling out". After all the people that I've spoken to over the last couple of years, saying "Style over Substance" and all that kind of thing....I think it would be rank hypocrisy!! Thankfully, I'm not looking to go there!!! (......although......) LOL!!!
