I'm struggling to catch the meaning of that first part....THAT is what makes no sense....Perhaps a read-back before you post? You seem to be saying that "just because Mattx does not obey the law so does anyone who takes offence at his "style" of riding"...To be honest, I cannot make head nor tail of what you are trying to argue here. Please ascertain what you mean, and post again. My drive home takes roughly the same amount of time as Mattx, and neither do I speed...Country lanes tend to make you a more peaceful driver...Less traffic on the road. And yet, I CAN see the validity of what he was doing. Can you tell from the video what speeds he was doing? Are you that good with visual speed estimation? Did you happen to notice any of the speed signs? How do you know he WAS speeding? I draw you all back to one of my first points....A video designed to show the camera, and how good it was for how little money. It is quite sad that instead of being a polite and easy conversation about the differences between cameras, and which could be best value for money, it has descended into a farce of name-calling and bitchiness. And that will be my last word on the matter!

Just under 2 years ago, a similar decision was made in my college. We bought 105 laptops, took back all the old stock of PCs, and SMT sat back thinking they'd pulled a rabbit out of the hat. At the time, my now-departed colleague suggested that this may be a bad idea....How prescient his views were! Trouble? You want trouble? How about a Lecturer who has had 3 different laptops in just over a year? How about the cupboard full of laptops with broken screens "Sorry, I dropped it" or even worse "Sorry, my son/daughter broke it" In the main, the laptop experiment is neither a failure or a success. Some get on well, others really struggle. Over the last 2 months, I've been running a project to standardise the rooms across campus, so they will all be to the same spec. This will include a dedicated PC for each room. AND the laptops will be coming back! I'd advise thinking very carefully before heading down that route.

Definitely the point I'm trying to get across. From the video, and a non-riders perspective, even I can see that Mattx HAS to have been sat fairly upright for most of that, and watching the road ahead with great care. Too many drivers think that bikers are a nuisance on the road, and I have seen drivers pull over so a bike cannot get past. Yet, that is exactly what some of the posters on here seem to be like. It would not surprise me to know that these posters would do that, in a "If I'm going nowhere, I'll make damn sure that bloke/girl on the bike aint going anywhere either" To many selfish drivers on the road. *EDIT* And that IS a fabulous advert!

I can't help noting that a short film about the quality of video has turned into an all-out war between those who accept Mattx's style of riding, and those who don't. I've been driving for long enough to accept that bikers have a certain style of riding. Some are obviously better than others. I think that the safest way of driving/riding would be to take into account ALL the conditions....road, weather, traffic, etc etc....and there is nothing in this video that suggests that he was NOT doing that. As I've mentioned in previous posts, I am NOT a biker, but try to keep a very close eye out for them. You never know when one will come up behind you, without you noticing. However, is Mattx's riding any worse than the old man who poottles along at 20 miles an hour? Or the nervous driver doing 40 on a motorway? NO..... And the answer would be that in both those cases, the driver is not paying attention to what is going on around him/her. The "holier-than-thou" attitude displayed by some members of this board seems to be almost totally out of character, but I believe it is misplaced. Maybe (if he can remember what was going through his mind) Mattx could re-edit the video to include a commentary, to describe his thoughts through each part? Would that satisfy the nay-sayers? Or just give them more ammo to shoot at him? Still, I think there's nothing better than getting an acknowledgement from a biker, cos they realise that you have seen them, and are looking out for them....They are amongst the politest road-users, and also the rudest, if you get it wrong!

To be honest, I wish I had the stones to do it myself, but having seen my best friend die at 16 (through his own stupidity, I hasten to add) from riding a bike, I've always steered clear of them......except one time......and I nearly killed MYSELF! I once knew a guy who raced everywhere at 100mph on his bike....and he had the reasoning that "one day, I'll go out, and just not come back. And I realise that". Quite a fatalistic view, and I often wonder what happened to him. (This was 20+ years ago!) You obviously enjoy your riding, and like I said, I couldn't really see anything that would upset me, in my car, so continued good luck to you, and may ALL drivers see you coming! Well, it's about 6 weeks since I put my first blog piece up, so thought that now would be a good time to continue. Does the general theme continue? You'd think so, from recent events! Things have actually been improving. After all that had happened, and being very down, I was introduced to a family friend, who'd also had a bit of a rough time, and we clicked. Straight away! So, things were starting to get a lot more positive. Ok, so she lives 100 miles away, but that is a good separation at the moment, so that I can get my head straight, and sort myself out. However, just over a week ago, my Brother-in-Law died suddenly. This was an immense shock to the whole family, as he was only 54. It was like his life had just been snuffed out. He'd had a massive coronary heart attack, and despite the efforts of my sister and the paramedics, he died. Words can't express the deep sorrow that is running through the lives of my family, at the moment. And yet, I'm spending 2-3 hours, a night, chatting on messenger with a woman that "gets me". Someone who doesn't want to change me, and who I don't want to change. Despite all that has happened in the last 6-7 months, I can actually see a bit of blue sky amongst all the clouds. Was off for the last week, so a bit late to this one! ***********Controversial View Warning************ I've just sat through your video, because I read the first page of comments, and wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Anyhow, 14 minutes later and (as a non-biker) I have to say I was impressed! Having driven around London for a fair portion of my adult life, I have seen my fair share of bikers doing mad things. However, from that short film, I thought you rode really well. I can see why people would point out some of the stuff (chevrons etc) but you didn't seem to be taking any risks, and was actually very respectful to other road users. The overtaking of the car as he pulled out to overtake the bus was no big problem, IMO, as you would've had the power to accelerate past him should something have come up the other way, that you hadn't see. I would imagine that sitting up would give you the great view to be able to ride as you did. Most riders, from my point of view, are usually very good, but there will always be some that colour a persons views on bikers. Nice film, nice riding.....Just not for me!! I WILL stick to my car, and the (non-existent in Suffolk) traffic jams!!!!

They can be very expensive, cos the whole wheel mount will have to come off.... The most expensive thing will be the labour. Hope it IS just the pads....

By the sounds of it (geddit?? LOL!) It could well be the bearings going. Had that happen on an escort, about 20years ago, and when I got it to the garage, the whole wheel assembly was hanging off! But as Mcshammer says, could be brake pads too

So....I got the Galaxy S, and I have to say that it's an impressive phone. Upgraded to 2.3.3 last night, and it was fairly painless..... Agree that battery life is pretty poor though.

I've always had trouble with AV and WDS! We use Sophos, and every time we sysprep the image, all the credentials are stripped out. Therefore, the image defaults to C:Windows.....and not the AV server. Therefore, we just leave it off the build, and run a script once the image is on the PC/Laptop. If anyone DOES know a way around this, I'd be interested to hear it

How long are you looking at for battery life? My LG is hardly managing a day at the mo....although I'm pretty sure that has more to do with me messing with the ROM than poor battery!!!

My ex got a Samsung, so I've already got the software on my laptop.... Though I'm not sure I like the look of Kies!!

Ok....here's the scoop!!! My brother had an iPhone, and has ALWAYS said that it is the best! Anyway, he got a bit fed up with it, but wouldn't really admit it to anyone....especially me, as I was always banging on about Android!!! So, Bruv decides it's time for a new phone....And after must looking around, he decided to pre-order the new HTC Sensation. It came on Saturday....I was there.....He opened the box.....and fell IN LOVE! We had it out, had a play and he has totally changed his mind. HTC now ROCKS for him. Android is the place to be, for him! The moral of the story is....never keep a closed mind to anything, as you might get surprised. Do your research, and decide what YOU want from the phone. Make your choice, and BE HAPPY!!!

As a replacement for my LG GT540, I have decided to get a Samsung Galaxy S.... Now....Has anyone upgraded this to 2.3 yet? Was it easy? Do you have a link to this? My LG has been on 2.3 for about 2 months, and although I'll be sad to put it in a drawer, it'll always be my back up! Any advice is greatfully received, and usually rep'ed....unless I forget, in which case you might need to nudge me!!!

I think you'll find that I said "not SUCH a need", much in the same way that Mac users say it about Apple products. I put mylookout up because that it what I use, and in the last 9 months I've not had any problems. I can only speak from MY experience. As Android becomes more/the most popular OS for handheld devices, then I would expect to see an explosion of virus/spyware for them. But in the same way that people write viruses for Windows rather than Linux or iOS, they want to try to get onto the most popular format. The App market WILL have more and more fake programs come onto it....as can be seen from recent reports, but I would not advise anyone to try something that I haven't tried.

I was actually taken by the rapture... I'm currently typing this on the iPod Touch....Therefore, I COULD send the Apple Tracking Data to someone, and they'd be able to see exactly which cloud I'm on....and probably my harp too. However, no point sending it to Steve Jobs, as he won't be able to do anything with it....probably....at least, unless he gives it to his minion....Satan!

Android is hung off Linux, so there is not such a need for AV software.... However, I use the FREE http://www.mylookout.com I find that this does backups of contacts, pics and calls.
