Just setup a windows 10 laptop for a teacher and have a strange issue, if i insert an SD card in the card reader as a teacher nothing happens, it does not even make the bing bing sound when it's inserted, however if I log on as my domain admin account it works. All staff are members of the local admins group and I have tried disabling UAC. Win 7 & 8.1 are all fine on our network. This is driving me nuts.

Need to build a Steam machine for a friend

What do you think of the CyberPower Steam Machine I linked, does it look OK -
A friend has tasked me with looking at steam machines, initially he just wanted a pre-built system like the Aliemware machines but I am steering him in the direction of something that I can update the parts in a few years. I have found this and wondered what everyones thoughts are? CyberPowerSteam Machine i5-4590 400W Syber black case DIY Barebone kit - Ebuyer I notice it comes with only a 400watt power supply, would this be an issue? He has about £600 (less if possible) but I would like to drop a decent graphics card in and it must be quite and small as it will be used on the TV Thanks for any help

HyperV VERY slow copy speeds from host to vm
edutech4schools replied to blu4's topic in Windows Server 2012
I had this and found that if I made the connection the other way round it went much faster. So if currently you are on the host and opening a share on the vm do it the other way round, from the vm connect to the host share and copy. Might help, might not. -
Hi, We have just got some new laptops, installed Win 10 on them and handed out to staff but the image on the smartboard from the projector is letter box and the text is almost unreadable. The laptop is using a resolution of 1366 x 763 and I think the smartboard / projector likes a resolution of 1024 x 765. Switching them around in the graphics properties just makes the other one look good and the the one that did look good looks awful. They currently connect using a VGA cable but we do have a port for HDMI, would this help? Any ideas how I can make them both OK or at least usable. Cheers

Smart E70 v Sahara v Mimio interactive TV's
edutech4schools replied to edutech4schools's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Thanks. So how did the Benq and Vividtouch compare or are you happy with Smart E70? -
Hi, the primary school I work for are thinking about replacing the class Smartboards with some interactive TV's, and I wondered if anyone could give a little feedback about any of these boards Smart E70 Sahara Mimio Sorry I don't have the model of the last two as I am not in school today. None of the schools around us have any yet, so I am not able to pop out and try one. Also, the school will need to keep Smartnotebook and I know this has additional licensing implications if they get a non smart product. Thanks

getting error 8007000d when installing any updates on server 2008r2. I have tried the MS updates readiness tool but still get the error. After searching someone with Win7 fixed the issue by renaming the Softwaredistribution folder in the windows folder and re-running the updates, but I was not sure about doing this on a server. Any ideas? Thanks
