Or do i need to new policy files in order to use RSAT?????
-
Sorry for my ignorance but what is the difference between downloading the new policy files from MS or installing RSAT.

Y drive is a partition on the local server which is 2008r2. I am running it under (for testing) my domain admin acc.
-
Any reason why this is not running In Task Scheduler / actions (program / script) I have wbadmin and in (add arguments) I have start systemstatebackup -backupTarget:Y: [-quiet] When I run the task it just says starting.
-
I need to take a system state backup once a week to a local drive (not our only backup by the way) and I need it to run via task scheduler, but have found two commands while Googling that seem to do the same thing, or do they. One of the bat files I have found starts with wbadmin start backup .............. but another site has it as wbadmin enable backup .............. I would guess I should use start but never having used a script to run the backup, thought I had better check.

Software similar to Tapestry or 2 profile for KS1 KS2
edutech4schools posted a topic in General Chat
Hi, I need to find some software similar to 2 profile or Tapestry for a primary school. 2 simple software is not great and is a bit clunky and the Tapestry one is for Early Years only. Has anyone come across any good software for capturing childrens work / observations. -
[sims] Marksheets slow / crashing Sims
edutech4schools replied to edutech4schools's topic in MIS Systems
I have logged a job with our LEA but wanted to see if I could speed up the fix. -
We have a problem with the marksheets in SIMS, it takes forever to type data in because it's always hanging/saving/updating. Sims in general is fine. This is a primary school, last time I checked the database size was around 800mb, the Sims server has 8gb Ram. Any ideas?

Have been using Google drive for years and before that Google Picasa online. Pics are always private unless you share them. Never had any issues.

After trawling the ICO website I have found the following info, But the ICO also say that the company must meet other requirements such as, the service is only available overseas and a similar service is not available in the EU. https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-data-protection/principle-8-international/#adequate https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-data-protection/principle-8-international/ I will continue looking

I have just been asked to install some software at a primary school so the teachers can upload assessment info along with photos for all the students. I know that Google and Microsoft etc have had to sign up or meet certain European requirements needed to hold data for schools. looking on the website for this software all the data is held on a server in Canada and is aimed at Canadian / American schools. the only blurb I can find about data requirements is that they are FOIPPA compliant. Anyone know if being FOIPPA compliant meets the European / UK data requirements?

Is the Sims Teacher App any use for a primary school.
edutech4schools replied to edutech4schools's topic in MIS Systems
Does anyone know if or when the Sims teacher app will be available on Android. All my primary schools would love to start using this asap. -
Sorry to hijack, Should I create the EN-GB folder if I do not have one or will that cause issue. Currently only have EN-US in PolicyDefinitions folder

Just had an email from a teacher saying whenever they try to open a Word document it won't open and then they get lots of dialogue messages about 'changing the global template'. After that it seems to crash. I can find lots of help on Google about changing the global template when saving but nothing about when opening a doc. Any advice.

But it does do block leve,l although not tried it on vhds.

incremental backup works fine, I use it without any issues.

Just had a message back to say that it definitely does use encryption for the connection, I would imagine it's part of Google drive API anyway but who knows. Obviously once its up on Googles servers its heavily encrypted and you can use two factor Auth on the account to give another layer of protection.
-
Just been looking at more info and think it does encrypt the connection but does not encrypt the stored files, which has caused some confusion on their forums, which is fine for me as it's no different to using Google Apps for Ed within a school. I will still contact them for more info.
