Just started using the wonderful Google Sketchup (how I missed this I'll never know), as we want to look at a few changes to the ICT suite. So after drawing it up I cant seem to figure out how to draw a line that starts say half way up the wall without drawing a line from the base first or moving things relative to a point. Quite experienced at drawing with autocad but not sussed this bit. With autocad I just give it @coords from the last point but cant seem to find the equivalent in Sketchup. But for a free product its amazing so far.

Storage options for online audio and video files
TechSupp replied to TechSupp's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Sorry to bump this thread but just in case anyone else can help. -
I have two primary schools using schools.ik.org :: The Schools Website Builder, providing easy to edit websites to UK Schools and its quite easy to set up and its easy to use and update. An example is Hexthorpe Primary School (maintained by one of the teachers) and Balby Central Primary School (showing main problem is actually getting info to keep it up to date).

might seem obvious but checked where it connects to the laptop, jusr coincidence when moving one end of cable it makes connection at the other? Had a few laptops with broken/faulty laptop connection that needed cable holding in certain position.

Yes thats the one I found but the downloads are quite large. Looking for any other options

On the look out for links to sites that have free video footage I can use with my Y6 animation club with greenscreen (well blue screen in our case!) Found one site but the files are all massive.

I kniow this is an old thread but its the same problem I have now, thought it was just a blip last week, but still same this week. Its not the LA connection causing problems I dont think as I get the same when trying from my phone. Anyone else got the problem as well if they could try for me? Problem: Trying to play any video on BBC gives: Cannot play media. Sorry, this media is not available in your territory Annoying as kids need to watch Japan news and any Red Nose news iPlayer seems to work OK though!

If they are still the same as when I did them there should be practice ones to use. I admit to having difficulty with the speed of the questions so I'm afraid its just a case of practice, practice , practice and learn to quickly pick out the key info and work on that. The Literacy I found very subjective but managed to pass it.

There was recently a thread on here with someones link to a site with laptop manuals, there was one for the nc10, full dissassembly instructions plus photos, downloaded a copy for yhe very same problem although ours are only intermitent at the moment. If you cant find it i'll see if i can find the copy i downloaded (if you see my pocket of memory sticks you'll know why i said try and find!)

We currently use our old website ftp (our new site is hosted elsewhere) site for storage of audio and video files for linking to the new site as the new site has a limitation on file size we can upload to it. We are soon to loose the old site so whats the cheapest (ie free) idea for us to store online audio and video files so we can link to them and play on the new site? Did think of some of these online storeage areas but would have thought I would need to supply login deatils to play files etc.

Got it on a samsung nb30 touch and its fine as said, not for video editing but thats ok.

I presume its just rebooting, suddenly shuts off and restarts fully. Everything normal when its back up and running, no lost settings etc. Sat nav was a guaranteed reboot aftr 30 mins approx. But used to be fine. Reinstalled google maps and navigate but not tried it again since. Todays was after about 30-40 mins in to a ch4 prog i was watching on 4OD.

Its big standard android, not rooted or anything, not brave enough for that!

After having my HTC reboot itself again wondered if there is any way to back up all the apps and settings of the phone etc so if it dies for any reason and it needs to get swapped i'm not going to spend ages getting back to where i am now. Love the phone to death (never thought id say that about a phone!) But has a habbit of rebooting, think its when it gets warm, its in a protective case all the time like when watching a tv programme or using rhe sat nav. Found i rely on it so much now!

In my case Universal would be universal for one school then another universal image for another as each have their own software requirements so could not have a single universal anyway.

Thats just what I need, thanks, looking forward to reading it!

Excellent find! Just what I need for this weeks lesson.

Speaking of creating an image for all hardware etc, has anyone got any simpletons info/instructions of how to do that, i.e. I know there are downloads available with all the recent drivers etc but where do I put them and how to tell the install where to look when it reboots, how best to use sysprep? I have used Fog in the past and its been OK, but used it for renaming etc. I'm in a similar situation where I cover a few schools but having a single image (or 2) for each school would be great instead of my current range of images. I currently use Partimage (part of the SystemRescueCD) as its usually not a major image job just one or two that need reimaging due to faults etc. (larger imaging jobs I let our supplier do, pay them as its more cost effective in time etc).

Yes had that, ended up uninstalling manually, then running the MS MSI clenup utility, it then went on fine. Only odd few machines though, rest seem to have gone OK even theough they were all from the same image.

Does anyone know of any flowchart software (prefferably free :-) ) that is available, even an online version. It must be able to be used by a class all logged on. Found some but they only allow single user or I would have to create multiple logons with multiple emails etc which the kids dont have. I know I could use powerpoint etc but would be nice to use something designed for the job that links things semi automatically. Tried Grapholite which is great but cost are a bit prohibative for what we will use it for.

Compromised Websites - Anyone else affected yet?
TechSupp replied to tech_guy's topic in General Chat
Had my first of the new varient yesterday, teachers laptop and then had an LSA say she had it on her PC at home so just printed off the instructions on the Malwarebytes site for getting rid of it and let her have them. Can see these not being the first I will have to deal with! Had a similar one a couple of months ago but this seems to have hit big time in comparisson. -
Had a strange one this morning, the head was having trouble editing a document or even saving it to his memory stick, looked at it and, yes it was 36 pages long with two scanned images in it, and yes it failed to edit and save. When I had a look at it I found out why, it was 211Mb in size! So compressed the images, reseved and it was down to 210Mb, not much change there, so after a bit of messing (I mean technical investigation including just trying to load it in to a new document, copying just the text to a new document it failed even just a single line of text caused the PC to have a real headache!) I loaded it into Wordpad, save out as a doc rtf file and then back in to Word, saved it and hey presto, document now behaved itself and was 470K (yes thats nearly 0.5Mb!!!) Now problem solved so not after a solution, just an explanation as to why it had become so large in size. I did find a previous version of the doc at 57Mb. Could it have been loaded in to a newer version of word and saved back to cause this? Thought I remember reading something about this before.

Brilliant!

Not quite solved it but just set it to 300Mbps at 2.4Ghz and it now gives a better connection that I've had before so thats OK. But the wireless utility on the netbook says it connects at g/n now. Think its more of a misunderstanding on my part, netbook does support n but obviously not at 5Ghz only at 2.4Ghz. Suppose will have to be happy with that, if I get problems with interference suppose I would just have to get an adaptor that supports n at 5ghz or have I got this all wrong, must go to bed now!

Just changed my internet router to a Netgear N300 dual band which so far works fine and was easy to set up however I dont seem to be able to see the 5Ghz SSID which is set up on it (yes check its turned on, light on front). Can see and connect to the 2.4Ghz connection but not the 5? Using a Samsung NB30 netbook to connect and checked it is n compatible and updated the driver but still no show. Anyone got any ideas?
