Can I turn it off on the PC using GPO?

Have three Toshiba W7 laptops to set up which also need Truecrypt installing. Can I install Trucrypt then image on to another laptop or will Trucrypt not like that and better to just install Trucrypt after the image. Was just going to create an image on to DVD using the create restore disks program on the laptop to speed things up and just restore to the next laptop.

Ours pupils have redirected My Documents, a global desktop, mapped drives and run a mandatory default profile, our staff have the same except for the global desktop and run a roaming profile. The question is can I tun off the synchronise offline files on the GPO without causing problems as some PC's seem top have it turned on and some not. Do I just turn it off in GPO, gpupdate and job done or do I have to visit each PC? Noticed on here someone said about turning it off for mapped drives but would that not be covered by the GPO setting or do I need to do something else as well? A nice Thursday problem to start off with :-( (~6 more getups to go)

Looked a good option but we need a bit better quality video recording for what they want to do. Any other options?

Looking at video for a primary school myself, the ZX3 looks good but it uses a cable to transfer the video (they keep loosing cables here!) any other alternative that docks like the Flip with a USB connection on the camera itself. Searched but cant seem to find any.

Just replaced the mouse and it went away although just rebooting solved one!

Yesterday had an issue with a couple of PC's where the mouse had a mind of its own, it was just moving randomly all over the screen, not able to select anythiong as it would not stay still longenough. Cleared it with a couple of reboots and all was fine. Though that was isolated till today in a totally separate school I have had another PC with the same issue! Changed the mouse and it is fine. Now is that coincidence or something more sinister? But the same totally random movement symptems in two separate schools? Least its Friday!

Has anyone used/is using/looking at WebAnywhere Learning Platform preferably in primary? LA are currently trying to get us to sign up with Frog Primary but must admit not totally impressed with it and WebAnywhere I think have sniffed a few schools in same boat so getting calls now about having a demo. Just looking for opionions as to price (it is worth it), ease of use? etc

Yes got four at different schools. Found the older ones to be fine but found the newer white onces to be problematic. Using one school with an older one with 20+ netbooks reasonably well, but using the newer ones has proved very unstable. Would not use one again.

Thanks, had not seen the actual printing done by the teacher who said she could do two pages so she must have been mistaken. Thought it was a bit too fancy for a text box to decide if it needed a second page or not. I'll just tell them to fit it in the box, change the font size if they can or just rely on an electronic copy (which would be better and save lots of trees!)

Have some editable Adobe documents (Child Friendly IEP's) that have scrollable text boxes on. If more txt is entered it just scrolls off the page, not a problem except it cannot be printed, only the visible text is printed. It apparently should print the page and any more text is printed on a continuing next page. We only ever get the first page. Anyone got any ideas what could be wrong?

Will have to have a coffee and read those Sophos notes again, just gave me a headache!

I'll look at the subscription option when I get a chance. Not done upgrade yet as requires reboots which seems to annoy teachers when its the middle of the day somehow! Will do it when they have all gone homne via VPN. Thought I was going mad with the errors!

At the moment I am in a similar situation with new PCs for Smartboards and going down the line of keep everything the same so its XP for me. Will look to change when we can change across the board, having something different seems to cause staff real problems no matter how small! Remember they use the OS very little (as in features it offers), its the programs they use and that would stay the same no matter what the OS.

Whoo Hoo! Thought it was just me having the problems. I'm on YHGfL and upgraded to Sphos 4.5 at Christmas and since then have to keep an eye on it as it just stops getting the updates, sometimes a reboot of the server kicks it in to action but at one school not so (not had chance to check the others yet). Just starting to look at the upgrade to 4.7 as a solution but looks like that may not help although will still do it. Thanks for making me feel not alone!

Whoops only just seen this! Yes we have been moved away (except for Sophos) and am already feeling the pinch as courses with yourselves are now more expensive, good decision....not from a personal point of view :-(

Does anyone know of some cheap (or even free) software that would enable us to do some chromakey work but show the results live as in a weather foecast. We can already do the chomakey work with pre recorded video and then process it, ending up with a superimposed final video, one video superimposed on the other but would be nice to do some live chromakey work. Software would need to be PC based not mac.

Can you post pics of where the boards are eventually installed so we can see the setup. Good idea.

Not a major program but one I found helpful called Pintail, allows you to txt a phne with it installed on and find its approx location (with a pin code). txt is auto returned with location. Use it when wife needs to find out where I am when out on bike and I cant hear phone (or fallen off!). Though I would put it on daughters so we know where she is when on way home etc from school. Always has phone on silent so can never get her to answer (although that may be intentional!) Simple small app that works, without GPS turned on its only approx but thats ok. Installed Google Latitude for moment.

I have an HTC Desire and just bought a Wildfire for daughter, just looking to install apps for her and wondering why i can search and find an app on the desire android market app yet cant find it on the wildfire android market app? Whats the difference?

Srprised no one has said just turn the radio up, I do and any noise goes away, if more noises, just turn it up more!

Anyone suggest a good backup app that will allow me to backup apps and settings etc from my HTC Desire to the memory card. The phone has started playing up by intermittently rebooting when using the internet mainly. Two or three reboots later and its back working again. So if I need to reset it or get it exchanged I want my info to be backed up so I can restore it again. Anyone know how to reset it right back to how it was when it was delivered (if thats possible) seen the reset but dont know if thats a full reset of just data.

Had a teacher bring me a file she wanted to play, its a video in m4v format. Whats the best software to use to play it. Tried media player classic and vlc but both didnt seem to support the file type. Its to run on XP.

In the situation here (primary) where the head wants to get rid of the suite, staff dont, going to get Ruckus network in summer but reading between the lines if it proves ok he wants to get rid of the suite and get more netbooks and some pads. Not my preference and i teach the majority of the ict curriculum! Open to getting pads/netbooks but not at cost of a suite that just works, no ifs or buts. Suppose in the end i'll just do as i'm told. Finishing with one of my schools in the summer and the above was just one of the reasons, my choice to leave not pushed.
