Booked a TravelLodge last year and it was OK, basic but clean and just a bit of a tube ride back in the next day so this year trying a Premier Inn and its not that much more extra than the Travel Lodge we we were looking at. Would have gone with the suggested Novotel but purse strings would not quite stretch that far to be justified and didnt want the whole trip to be scrapped because of cost so its a balancing act.

How do schools manage iPads in school as far as adding apps and keeping them in synch with apps etc. My school is just starting with them and have asked the question...or rather they said heres an iPad what do we do! I assume we have to have itunes on a PC but can all the iPads be set to sync with the same copy of iTunes and what about setting up iTunes as it normally asks for payment details even if you only want to download free items from it. Any answers or hints welcome.

Problem solved, it was a case or operator error! When I looked again and I looked at the full description of the msi I noticed it was the one for plugins! Doh! Downloaded the correct activex msi and hey presto it works! Thanks for the suggestion, got me to look at it again, just that the column width was not wide enough so it didnt show the last bit of the msi file name. Thats my excuse anyway!

Trying without sucess to deploy the latest flash msi over the network using GPO. Set the msi as I have before for other msi's in a GPO, done a gpupdate /force and rebooted the clients a couple of times and as yet it still does not install flash 11? The web pages stull just show the place holder and an x Other versions we have had on done by GPO have installed fine and even get messages saying that version 10 is being uninstalled. I'm doing this on server 2008 R2 with XP clients. Is there any other (fool proof) way of installing flash player if I cant get this going with an msi. Oh and instructions would be helpfull

Just seem to have started getting a problem with a slow network. PC's seem tp take ages to get to the log on screen then a while to the desktop. Once on they are fine with internet, shared drives etc. Noticed I can only ping our servers using their name but can fine using their IP address. Does this point to something being wrong and could this cause our slow network if its having trouble resolving a name?

As all new laptops to us are now 64bit (we are running server 2003 and server 2008 r2) I thiught I had best install the 32 and 64 bit drivers on to the new server and use that for our printe server instead of the 2003 32bit one. Anyway cant get it to print, installed seemingly fine, try a test print, it goes through the process, see it flash in the print que then nothing comes out. Works fine on the 2003 server. Even tried it on a 64 bit laptop and installed driver on that laptop and no joy. Technical said it has to be LPR with an LPR que name of LP, which I have done and still no joy. Anyone had any dealings with this? Or is there something I should look out for specifically when installing a printer on 2008 64 or w7 64?

How do I stop my W7 netbook constantly connecting to BT OpenZone-H network when I use my netbook upstairs. I have to manually tell it to connect to my home network. Looked at preffered networks and the Openzone one is not in the list and my home wfif is set as top of the list to connect to.

Got to agree, had the misfortune to get two for school a couple of years back and when working they were fine but once they started playing up they were only fit for the bin.

Just looking at accomodation now, suggestions of somewhere not to far from Olympia? Anyone used the Premier Inn near Earls Court? Last year stayed further out for cost reasons but just made the day long and a hassle travelling in the next day again.

Find out which computers are turned on?
TechSupp replied to TechSupp's topic in How do you do....it?
Thanks will give that a go. -
Well the latest is that all now seems well...big test next week when get a class to use it but so far it looks promising. Signal strengths and speed tests look good and no AP's that are being difficult to say the least. POE switch changed to a different make and still had some issues but after a scan of signals it was found some Security PIR's were causing some issues so channel fixed to avoid the same channel. Out of safety we also fixed the channels of the other points (dont have that many) so that they dont clash with each other or the wireless phones, security, alarms etc etc rather than allow Ruckus to determine the channel (as when we did the problem seemed to appear at another AP) and all seems well. Thanks for all suggestions, hope my adventure may help others who have a difficulty as well.

Find out which computers are turned on?
TechSupp replied to TechSupp's topic in How do you do....it?
Tried the DHCP first to give me a clue but thought there must be a better way, tried the net view and unfortunately for once they have turned them all off! Cant be relied upon to be unreliable in turning them off for once! Ah well it'll have to wait till Monday then. Thnaks for the replies anyway. -
Basic one really...I hope. Just dialed in to school and I want to log on to a PC but dont know which one is one. Ho can I find out quickly which PC is on so I can log in to it. I can log in to the server thats no problem, just need to log on to a student PC to test something out while at home.

I had issues like that with a laptop running Vista and needed to update the drivers to allow it to run with the latest encryption. Try it with no encryption on router and see if it connects and runs OK. Spent ages on it till I found that out. Maybe try getting it to find the latest driver or you may have to manually find one.

How to get financial approval for a new phone
TechSupp replied to SimpleSi's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Fantastic logic! -
Kudlian software sell one but I think the MS LifeCam which I use is quite good, good in poorish light conditions.

Well.....the POE was changed, all seemed well untill I came to one AP that would not let me connect to it. Had them back in and it was swapped out, still same problem so signal analysed and on closer inspection it seems the signal was very intermittently dropping and comming back so wifi taken back to basics and hey presto that point sorted. WIFI network AP's tested and problem has resurfaced on a totally different AP that was OK before! Arghhhhh! Back to POE swapout again although when he left after a POE switch reboot it was apparently stable on all the AP's. So next week have got to check it out to see if its still stable. We shall see...

Did I also mention that the clock can be displayed separately from the weather widget, there is a photo display widget and a news feed display as well, going to use some of that as well on the display, not just the clock. For thois wondering what I am on about and havnt looked at the link yet, just imagine the HTC Phone Clock/Weather app on your desktop.
-
Thats a nice app, will have a look at it as dont want to go down the xibo route as yet. Just given you thanks but wish I could double thanks as it was just what I wanted, digital, folding numbers, always on top etc. All this was because we had just redone the ICT suite and I would not put back up the old analogue clock on the wall where the TV screen is now because I am anal and it just looked out of place and didnt fit with the current designed scheme (creame and orange, I know sound awful but it works) which is modern and the clock wasnt! Now thats job sorted
-
Want to display a digital clock on our new display screen (tv run by win7 pc showing powerpoints). The analogue clock widget is fine but would be happier if it was a digital clock. Anyone know of one? Done a google but not come up with anything I could install as a widget.
