Has anyone had any experience of the LearnPad tablets and content/content management? School is thinking of buying a set of 30 as its a one stop shop really for them.They saw it at BETT but it has apparently been upgraded simce then to becoem the LearnPad 2 but no info on the website.

Have used Lancashire Computer Waste Disposal (pick up.most areas) and one mentioned on here before, Green Technology think they are called, both free.

Due to have our PC's changed over to Office 2010 and Win7 this summer, whats the best option, install Office locally or have it installed via MSI? Never done an msi install only ever created an Office XP admin install location on the server and installed from that.

Anyone had any dealings with this make of PC? Just been offered them as we need about a dozen. Never dealt with them before so dont want to buy without some background. Its an i3, 4gb, 500gb hd, dvdrw and 5yr rtb as standard for £310.

School just bought an outside bird box with wireless camera but have asked me for a spare monitor to display it on. Is there such a thing as a scart to vga adaptotor? Found things that go vga to scart but the cable is a male scart, secondly would it work in the end to a PC monitor?

Just a bid more info after some more testing, have two PC's side by side, one works (same logon) the other gives the error message so seems PC related. Tried all sorts and cant seem to fix it permanently. Looked at the registry band on my std template login (used to create the profile) all the settings for My docs, My pics etc are set to %UserProfile% etc, no mention of 'Home$\Red' anywhere so dont think its in my new profile. On a PC which works fine all apart from application data, My Docs and My Pics are set to %userprofile% but those mentioned are set to the correct \\hollywood\home$\violet etc. On the non working PC is the same except that the path for My docs etc is to the wrong user name i.e. red even though violet is logged on. Tried setting it manually but it was just reset when I logged back on so whats happening? Just reset that logon back to its old user profile and guess what, its now redirecting to the correct location...but why? and why does the new one not work on that PC yet it does on others?

Not as far as I'm aware, usually create a brand new local user on the PC with admin rights and log on locally to the PC then create the template. The thing is this issue does not happen every time.

Got a strange one starting to appear on the network as its not happening all the time. We have class logins (primary) as colours i.e. red, orange, green etc. When they log on their My Documents is redirected to their home folder home$\gree for example and a drive is mapped to it h: as well. No what is happening is that for example green logs on and goes to My Documents it gives an error message that the path to home$\red is not available (which of course its not as its green who is logging on. The Mapped drive is fine. The only thing that I can think of has changed is that I created a new template profile to reduce logon times. To fix the issue I have either rebooted the PC or done a GPupdate of the PC, and logged off and when logging back on it seems fine with My Documents. Now this happens on any logins and (they all use the same new profile) but the error message when it does happen allways refers to red! Have not a clue whats happening or where or why..any clues very much appreciated as its driving me nuts! The clients are xp and the server is 2008 R2. Done lots of new template profiles before and never had this issue crop up. I also have a routine that deletes profiles on shut down and the profiles are mandatory not roaming. Edit: Just looked at PC event viewer and now its working the message in it says: Successfully redirected folder My Documents. The folder was redirected from <\\hollywood\Home$\Red> to <\\hollywood\Home$\Violet>. Now where is the path to red being picked up from? its new template? if so why does it sometimes fail?

Right, now has come the time to swap, whats best, go direct to the shop and haggle or would i stand a better chance of getting a better deal by phoning up? Website option does not give me a good price option to choose as standard (its t-mobile).

Nothing has been picked up by Sophos so may look at getting it to scan for malware and see how we go. Hthanks for the help anyway, got me out of a hole. Must be a specific site as it was y5 and y6 and they had also had the netbooks out.

Bumping this thread as although mac_shinobi's fix worked a treat I've now just had to do this on another two PC's today, thought it was isolated to a specific make/model of PC, but one today was one of our netbooks! Anyone got a clue as to why this has suddenly started to appear?

We are due to have a child with poor eyesight be given a laptop for classroom use, now its been mentioned as a topic on here before but I cant find it, whats the easiest and cheapest way to get the smartboard image to be viewed on the laptop? We do run iTalc but didnt want to go down that route reLly, something simple maybe VNC or VLC? Anyone done this before..must have.

Thanks, I'll have a look at that, presume it does not matter that the printer is only shared out and not distributed using the new features of 2008? We use a logon script to give the printer to pupils etc.

Just updated the drivers of our shared printer on the server which is 64bit to the latest version but I also want to update the 32bit additional drivers we already have for it. Gone into additional drivers, the 32bit are ticked but greyed out. How do I update them to the latest version or are they already done as I updated the 64bit? As you can tell, a bit new to this!

Just been given an Advent 9415 laptop and have put W7 on it, now it works just fine (even with only 512Mb as thats all I had to hand at the moment) but its only running on for the graphics for example generic drivers. Anyone know where I can get the w7 drivers from? Its a SIS chipset as far as I can tell, had a google but can only come up with XP links.

Does the new ICS have the facility to connect via proxy or are we still waiting for that feature to appear? As I've been relatively happy (ok had an issue with it overheating after a few months when I use GPS or heavey graphics for a short while, main board swapped out and been fine since) am tending toward the X One at the moment.

Right, all started with a netbook not connecting via our Ruckus wifi, it connects but wont pick up an ip from the server dhcp and give the title message, says its connected but not fully. So though I would check it out via the LAN, now got same message when I plug a cable in, (cable connection checked ok). Changed the driver, removed driver and let it reinstall, using zero config and Atheros config all to no avail. Any more suggestions?

Dont know if I have expalined properly in the title but when I used remote desktop to view one of my servers I get offered two options to select to view, each giving a time stamp and resolution. I want to remove one of them as it shows a corrupted desktop view, the other is fine, Where is this profile located so I can remove it so its does not show up at connection time?

Just nearly at the point of being able to change my phone so the question is to what? Currently have an HTC Desire which I have been very happy with for my first smartphone but not sure what next so a late night thouhht was ask on my favourite place on the net. If I dont set the pole options correct on here the choice as I see it is iphone 4, samsung galaxy or htc x one?
