We had it turned on on ours and had one point constantly dissapear so that you couldnt log on to the network there, so we had all the points changed to static channels and so far so good. A good idea but didnt seem to work well in our situation.

Have tried scripting it but never been fully successful somehow so now refreshed the whole system to W7 looking at a specific product.

Is or has anyone used this software? PC Power Management Software | Auto Shutdown Software | Energy Saving | Cut CO2 Its for shutting down PC's automatically etc at set times. A good deal at minute for a primary at £95 so wondering if its worth a punt?

Yup, try the indestructable ones from Hills Components, got some for primary and they have survived so far since Sept in Nursery which speaks volumes! Braided cables, little to break etc. Be aware they have two sizes (small for the little ones, bit larger for secondary), call them, they were very helpful with us.

Hotel just booked, be there on Wedand Thurs. Cant believe its now just accepted we want to go and allowed for in the budget! Just train fares to book now. Nice to look forward to after comming back to school after the Christmas break.

Cant do that as I'm really only allowed to do minor things to the admin network or PC's as I only really look after curriculum, anything else is done by the LA. Think I will look at the script, seems simple enough. Should be done by the LA really but they just look after admin and if it involves curriculum or anything out of the ordinary its a no go as far as they are concerned.

Just noticed you got it to chage the LAN connection, it needs to be the WIFI connection, problems with that and where would the dns settings be set for the static at school.

Thanks will give that a try, will need the dhcp and static the other way around i.e. static at school, dhcp at home, but may be able to figure how to change that in the script.

Its for the head...so its got to be simple!

The heads laptop via the wifi needs to have a dhcp setting and no proxy settings at home but at school he needs it to have it with a fixed IP and a proxy setting. Is there a simple utility that I could use to allow this, i.e. a simple click here for home settings etc. Its running W7 if thats any help and could do with the settings taking effect imediately rather than after a reboot.

Have done an NEC before and it was one of the easiest I have done, dont know.model off hand though. Just looking at a Toshiba ST-20 at moment. They are quite easy as well. Filterless so bags of dust everywhere.

Just formatted the disk, ours is an old one with a 200gb disk (2.4 celeron processor) , was left with a bit of the linux grub boot loader but using fixmbr from a windows disk got rid of that and then a straight forward windows install.

GPO Objects? cant answer that one as dont know what they are! We are on server 2008 R2 and Win7 clients if that helps? Sorry, just trying to build up my knowledge.

Fas as I know bios up to date, and drivers fine (well all in built in W7 as no specific ones available for W7 from manufacturer). All PC's are Fujitsu's. Seem to work fine otherwise (have had a couple report mouse and keyboard freeze up but thats only two out of about 20.

Just moved to having start menus and desktops redirected which works fine on PC's and Netbooks untill the netbooks have been on for a short while and are not used and the desktop dissapears. This happens when netbooks due to slowish logon times are set up by teacher before lesson start so that they are ready for the lesson starting. Log off and back on and all is fine. Now I think its all down to the wifi tirning off as it tries to save power when its not being used, hence desktop dissapears as not connection. Now can I disable this feature via GPO or is it one where I will have to visit each netbook and manually turn that feature off? On a similar vein, have some PC's now we have gone to W7 start to go in to a power save/suspend mode (power light on fron to PC goes orange instead of green) and only way to resolve it is to unplg and restart which they do not like), never had this issue with XP! Can this be solved with a GPO setting? I know its not being very 'green' but would rather leave them on (they are older PC's). The latest newer PC's are fine as the power button just flashes and they now know to just press it and all is fine again instantly. Help would be very welcome!

Having a play with an old CachePilot of ours and wondering as it has two network ports, is there any beneffit of connecting both or just keep it as standard and use one? (Ports are on the main board and not separate cards, come up as Intel Pro/100 S Server in device manager) Have installed Server 2003 on it at moment with thoughts of just playing with VirtualBox. Its not for anything major, just so I can try a few things out leaving our main servers alone.

Unfortunately we only have the desktop downloads and office as we bought the server outright with client licenses early last year when we had a new server. Only just moved to the new licensing. As I said got the disk its just on my desk not at home.

Usual need to do a job from home for school and forgot the CD! Doh! Someone on here found a location to download the CD's but cant find it. I have the license key to use the CD just need the iso! If not looks like another job to add to my list tomorrow!

I want to send out a hotfix (to fix a windows gotcha I hope) to some PC's via GPO but noticed its an msu file once I extracted it from the MS zip file. What do I need to do to install it?

Tried sumo paint? Online image editing, found another one today, if I find it again I'll post that as well. Used to have photshop at school but version we had would not run with w7 so we now use Sumo Paint, well impressed with tools for an online package. Found it, http://www.splashup.com

Just looked that ink on powerpoint and if you look at the smart ink app it says that the add in for office needs installing and to do that, you have to do a repair, on the install of the smartboard software via add/remove programs as far as I can see. Most unsatisfactory! and I have to log in as admin to do it on each PC as if I didnt have enough to do, which is why I have not tried it yet!

Just had some tablets set up in school and noticed that had a HDMI output connection. Do I have to have anything special to output the HDMI to Phono so it could be plugged in to a wall connection and display it on the Smartboard via a projector (non HDMI)? Seen cables that go from HDMI to phono but have a sneaky feeling its not that simple and more costly equipment is required?
