Our school shows the attendance of each class as a bar chart and colours the top three attending classes with Green for top, yellow fro next and red of third best. They have to format the colour of the relevant colums each time the table is updated each week and they asked if they could do this automatically (formatting of the top three classes), My answer was possibly, I dont know but I know of a group of people who might....thats where Edugeek steps in to save the day! So does anyone know if this can be done?

Well sorted that one out, for those with the same issue it was the next seeting down, to turn on the ICMP exceptions to allow the software to get a ping from the client, job sorted...next!

I know its an old (well OK very old thread to be more precise!) thread, but did anyone have a solution to this as its exactly the same problem here. Have Googled the issue and now set the option to allow Print and File Share through the firewall via GPO (server is 2008 and clients are W7) but no joy. I remoted in to a PC and manually changed the option to turn on File and Print Sharing and hey presto the shutdown client installed just fine. After I did the GPO change I did gpupdate /force on both server and client, rebooted client so it should have the new setting but think I need something else set to actually turn the option on not just allow it through the firewall. I have to do this for all PC's etc, so please, please, please dont tell me I have to visit each PC

not being daft just new to it but how do i do that through gpo? I'm running a 2003 server.

I have been asked for a quick solution so that teachers and pupils can view mp4 files so I thought, VLC Player, drop an install in a folder on the server and then drop a shortcut to it on theior profile desktop...but was just wondering if thats the best way or should I be using the portable version and share that out? I know there is an msi version but not really wanting to go down that route just yet.

Thats from a while back! As ReportAssist is no more all my schools that did use it have now decided it caused too much work and made reports too long so tbey now just use word, all now happy.

Best of British but would love to hear if you find out a way. I have some of these and find the lamp hrs reset to be difficult to say the least. Always hate it when bulbs go on these. On the plus side they are dead easy to take apart to clear all the dust from the mirrors etc. They are in a box that is closed in by two blanking plates but these still let minute particles of dust in over time. Done about three now. Picture definately better once done, but if I had the money I would change them.

No, I spend enough on Sky already (and I dont subscribe to sports or movies as it is) so I'll probably get the new box and give them a ring to pair it up.

Had the box for a few years so not sure where I stand with calling them up but may be worth a try.

Was just going to order some AverVision ones but after finding out the classes had been quite happily using our MS webcams (that we should be using for animation anyway) changed my mind and we should save a bit from my budget. We do have AverVision visualisers in other classes and they have been Ok, just a web cam and a flexible camera mount that clamps to the table is one heck of a lot cheaper!

I have Sky+ (Amstrad) box which although working does play up at times and I have seen a cheap second hand HD Sky box for sale. Knowing Sky it surely cant be a simple swap, so has anyone done it and if so what do I have to do? Not bothered about subscribing to HD just using current subscription, but would I be able to get the free HD channels like BBC HD?

Have you looked at this, http://www.peachworx.com just going to look at it myself as a primary there is a deal for £90 something site license. Few used it on here, basic but apparently just does what it says on the tin. I also looked at Impero but it way out of our reach and does far more than what we want.

But then again if its an Interactive Board, should not the factor as to its height be the height of the kids who 'should' be using it as an interactive tool. If they are not using it, take it away and replace with a whiteboard. Much cheaper dont think that would involve H+S.

Well blow me down, just removed an old mapped drive and it all seems to work fine now!

Given a laptop by a teacher complaining she could not print etc, on looking at it, its very slow to browse the network or itself i.e. Open up my computer and it takes a while to show all the drives etc. WIFI is connected but cant browse the internet. Run CCleaner and cleared temp files etc also run Malwarebytes and nothing detected. Teacher blames new install of office 2010 but cant be true as she managed to register it. Any ideas where to go next?

Just wanting to use an old office PC as a bit of a test bed but want to upgrade the graphics, only problem its only got PCI Express x1 video card slot. Had a look around but those I've seen are not cost effective as its only a test bed. Anyone know where I can get a 'cheap' PCI Express x1 video card?

Think VLC did a video editing suite that was free. Sorry cant check, all VLC is blocked at school
