Right having a look at it now and gone to dns and right clicked the domain.local but its giving me all sorts of options for new that I could ever wish for! Which one should I select?Host, Alias, Other New Records? or a choice from any other? Thanks

I want to add our old server to our new servers dns so that we can refference it with its name rather than having to use its ip address. Dns is all set up on the new server but just wondering if there is an idiots guide as how to do it? The old server does nothing much these days (server 2003) apart from wsus and file storage.

Wed/Thurs for me too, cant believe got a second year of a two day trip.

I teach ICT in Primary (and do support as well) so cant comment from a first hand experience, but can comment from second hand experience as my daughter is currently doing GCSE's and even before that I can say at hers I'm not impressed with the level they teach her at. Alot of my primary kids can do already what they do and it seems alot of just teaching to get evidence for the exam rather than teaching for a proper purpose (same age old acorn of teaching to the test I'm afraid). They seem to have spent alot of time creating website buttons in Fireworks, nice but hardly practical. Now what the problem is I dont know, is it teachers taking a very easy way out of teaching a subject or a course that does not lend itself to the real world use of ICT? Suppose I've asked more questions than commented, but hey ho! (or should that have been Ho Ho!)

Hi, Can anyone do me a quick conversion of a logo to vector format for me. Been tol it must be in 'Illustrator CS4 Compatibility'. Tried saving it in Photoshop as an .eps file but been told it wont recognise the file format so here I am Dont know if it needs any tidying up first though as not the best at graphics. Thanks in anticipation, Oh did I mention its wanted as soon as poss!

Do the puzzle then normal search page with results appears, do search from there, once you have done puzzle a few times, it should be quite quick doing searches

Is there a way to add back the default tools to the floating toolbar without reinstalling? Got a teacher who has the tab to drag the toolbar to one side of the screen or the other but no icons for starting notebook etc, just the tab.

Wish I lived closer, first car was a mini, red like that but an S reg (78' I think). Would have loved to 'tinker' again. Wheels should bring a bit if you split it would have thought.

. Just been given a couple of Kindles to setup and quickly found the no proxy setting issue but....we have just had a new Ruckus wireless network installed, did anyone know if this could be done on Ruckus i.e. to set up a transparent proxy and any ideas how to do it? (last part especially!)

Computer to chair interface error once again I'm afraid. Trying to do too many jobs quickly! It was a simple case of forgetting I had not done a Newsid on the PC from when I imaged it, to when I got around to set it up on the network. Once I ran NewSid, rebooted re-joined to network etc etc all was fine. Thanks for the suggestions anyway.

Did have a look at Gpresult and it looked fine and the scripts are fine as they run everywhere else no problem. Its just this machine that seems to just take ages to get past start up scripts befor ethe logon prompt. Done it again this morning. Just looking at event logs and cant see anything obvious.

Situation: A new PC has been imaged like all the other computers before and now adding it to the network, not normally any problems. This time after adding it to the domain and rebooting and logging on then shutting it down (no problems so far), I move the computer account as usual into the one which has the Global Desktop OU on the server. Start the PC and log on, no problems apart from after log on there is no global desktop. The usual fix for this has been to do a gpupdate /boot on the client PC, reboot and logon and the desktop works as required. However this time it has taken a good 5-10mins for the logon prompt to appear after waiting at the Running scripts message before the logon screen. All seems to be working but wondered why the long wait? Usually does it straight away.

What about using iCloud? Then just download an app on one and the other ipads get it automatically via wifi. Just done it for the couple we have at the moment. Downside is installing apps must be turned on in restrictions to do it. They still need the store login to download themselves (we are in primary) so dont think they will have their own so should be ok. No need to connect to itunes via a cable anymore.

Well tried to register for the apple store without entering payment details and failed. Tried it via an iPad and via a new install of iTunes and although I managed via the website to create a login as soon as I want to enter the store and log in it asks me to Review my login as its the first time at the store and then presents me with the select and enter payment method and none allow me to do it without Update: Eventually did it, they certainly dont make it easy. Had to change the account I created (wanted same ID), go to store, download a free app, create a new ID, None now appears, register and verify ID, sign back in at store..job done.

Looks like it worked on a PC, no request for credit details.

Ok, will give it a whirl on a PC then.

Right, fired up the first iPad and trying to create an apple store login to download some free apps but it keeps asking me for credit card details, am I doing anything wrong as previous posts say I should be able to sign up without? Or do i have to do it via itunes to get that option rather than direct via the iPad? Sorry for plonker questions :-(

You say kids dont have deletion/install rights, how is that done?
