If you have experience then get the books and do it yourself. You really need to read a few of the books to get an overall picture. The MCITP: Server Administrator would be a good set to read though as would the Minasi book mentioned above, which I always purchase. Some of these single MS courses will not cover as much detail as you want. The AD course will probably cover certificate services more than some of the inner workings of AD. Sounds like you have stale entries for the clients in DNS. You need to enable scavenging on your DNS server to clear problems like this. If you Google DNS scavenging you will find a suitable guide. You must enable scavenging on the DNS server and the zone.

Use a script to do your backup with wbadmin and then make it wait in the script until that process is finished and then the next line, use Robocopy to transfer it over. In batch it would be something like start /wait wbadmin blah blah robocopy blah blah Or other Powershell or VBS equivalents.

Alter the script to use a full path to robocopy or put it in a "known location" such as c:\windows\system32.

The server stuff just stays the same I think, it's just the Client OS, Cals and Office that you will get a better deal on. You will need a Datacentre licence per CPU as well I believe.

Even if it does take both entries out you can authorise it again in seconds.

I am seeing similar problems trying to save office files from a win 7 laptop, the only problem is I need it to use offline files. I am working through some fixes but I am having no luck so far.

That is vb script code not a registry import. To use it paste the contents into a text file and name it make sure you select all files as the type or it will end up being called whateverfilename.vbs.txt. @Arthur Fixed.

I always order some demo tests if we haven't done any on screen tests for a while just to make sure everything is working. I also seem to remember the console telling you when there is an upgrade?

These things are all the reasons I don't do much gaming online these days, I just can't be bothered with the hassle. I played online for 10 years, mostly team based FPS TFC, day of defeat etc etc. Had a long time membership of a clan and to get decent games in the later years you were forced to get you own server so you could control what went on. You couldn't have a laugh much any more as nobody seeMed to have a sense of humour. Other times you would get accused of cheating, just because you were better than other people, it was ridiculous. I know the reason for this decline as well and it's all the younger ones playing online now. They may argue that were too old and sad to be playing games at anything over a certain age but thats an argument for another day. People at least used to have some respect for other players online and would appologise if they aaccidentally Tked you but these days as stated you get these idiots purposely trying to TK you all round /rant off

I have an MCSA and I am current doing the MCITP:SA and maybe EA I have done 70-680 and 70-640 so far and I can say the SA is the equivalent of the MCSA but..... the SA will expire when 2008 does. MCSA won't expire but it is obviously tested on old versions. I'm sure Ken with his certificate list that is long as your arm, might have a few words on the subject.

The best way to do these types of things is build the image on a virtual machine and get it so it can be applied to the computer you want. You can then use snapshots and revert to snapshot to save you rebuilding from scratch every time. You would do snapshots at critical stages such as basic install, all apps installed, just before sysprep etc etc. It makes this kind of process a lot quicker.

Sounds like a network latency issue to me or the share could not be accessed at the time. I had this before when the server Could not handle the volume of traffic. When we upgraded the server the problem went away. Is this happening at peak times or random?

Are you using the DFS console to define the targets or are you just putting these folders at the DFS root you made? The actual DFS root is just a bunch of folders that sits on the drive and are more like symbolic links. Apologies if I have misunderstood.

If you use MDT to prepare your images, it makes injecting drivers very easy. It turns it into a point and click exercise. There is an initial learning curve, but once you get the hang of the basics your life will be much easier.

Sounds like the hard drive is full.

Ours use the free version. They output to a special network share dedicated for this. This obviously has to be monitored.

I will ask a good question to go along with this topic...... If you buy a QNAP or something like that what disks are you putting in them?
