    It might be timing out on the startup script there is a time limit to how long a script can run and I have noticed the SCCM client can take a long time to install especially the .net 4 bits if you don't already have them on.

    That error is fairly generic as I have found out. Get the log out of the temp directory and not the one in the directory on the C: drive. I found the one on the C: drive folder was not updated with the actual problem but the actual error was highlighted by cm trace on the copy from the temp directory.

    Are the basics working, can your clients ping the WDS server and vice versa? Have you changed the IP address and not updated group policy?

    I hate firmware upgrades of any type, they always fill me with dread.

    the correct path should be on your DHCP. That is what mine is set to. You could use the x64 as well. The other thing is SCCM seems to want both x86 and x64 boot images available even if it isn't using one of them.

    ... and if that doesn't work you need to make sure the "Deploy this boot image from the PXE service point" box is ticked on the data source tab of the boot image properties.

    The problem has been that the HR droids never got familiar with MCITP and seem to still ask for MCSE/MCSA.

    You can still consider 70-640, 70-642, 70-646 as the are the foundation ones for everything. This will give you the MCSA and is the same exams as the MCITP:SA was. Make sure you get the second editions though that covers R2 content.

    Not the one's you are doing but just making you aware they renamed the MCSA to add plenty of confusion.

    You can still take the MCSA for 2003 but be aware they have recently changed the MCSA as well so it is now "Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate" and based on the 2008 track but expires after 3 years. MCSA: The foundation for your career in IT

    I have read about using WDS and multicast to copy files to a folder on a computer but I have never tried it. This is additional files and not wiping the HD although I have never tried it. See here: deployvista.com > Home - Multicasting - not only for operating system deployment

    If it has some kind of silent install switch you should be able to make a package out of it.

    We have used App-V for some apps for a while, we are now getting round to getting most of them packaged so about 90% of our apps will be APP-V apps. It's quite simple to do and it's even meant I can do away with redirected start menus!

    We have this occasionally and I'm sure that they don't have enough space when they save and they are ignoring any errors and logging off.

    Export the list from the dhcp console and use a script to add the reservations using a loop to iterate the information in the exported file.

    No that's the old way of doing it your set up currently should be okay. I was talking about your proposed solutions being the old way of doing it.

    The point in CSVs is so it can be exposed to 2 or more servers at once. What you are talking about is more like using a traditional lun, with that if you have more than one vm on that lun they will all fail over together.

    Here are some virtual labs for System Centre 2012 TechNet Virtual Labs: System Center These will allow you to do the various labs through your web browser on a VM. I have used others like this before and they are usually pretty good. I haven't been through these yet but the I thought the lab on migrating from SCCM 2007 to 2012 might be popular.

    That's what I am thinking of you want the contents of the iso. Prepare a USB stick in the normal way and copy the contents over.

    Can you not just copy the contents of the boot image onto your media. I vaguely remember doing something like this before.

    Were moving to Polo shirts soon. Shirt and tie is so impractical as I always have to tuck in/take my tie off, role up my sleeves. Ties get get ruined and a suit is not the best thing to be crawling around the floor in. Sure you look smart for about 5 minutes until the first crawl of the day! We are just going to get some polos with the school badge on. Other departments have the same sort of thing so why not us as we work with machinery and moving parts! I have 2 Technicians in my department at the moment and I considered the change just for them at first then decided, we are a team so we should all dress the same.
