Good luck with it, I built a full arcade cab a few years ago but had to dismantle it for space, I still have the control panel though. Wasn't the best bit of woodworking but looked pretty good from about 10 feet away I used a 25 " TV for the screen. I'm planning to put the CP on some rails to slide out from under one of my work surfaces in the garage.

Make sure you mention plenty about how it currently affects teaching and learning or how extra staff would improve the experience for T&L as problems fixed quicker, more proactive maintenance improving things, that sort of thing. That is the kind of talk SLT/Governors will be interested in. If you have anything dealt with by external contracts, can this be brought in house to be more cost effective and receive a much better service eg not waiting hours/days for someone to visit.

We are using One Note as well, shared between the team and syncs to my Sky Drive. I used to use a Wiki but prefer the navigation of a desktop application over a web based one, when things get complex. The only issue I have found is there is a maximum section size if you sync to Sky Drive which was a bit annoying when I was embedding PDFs in some sections.

Mkv is just a container so you can extract the actual files. Google demux and mkv to find an appropriate app.

Simple way to deploy custom Win 7 image using PXE and Clonezilla?
ChrisH replied to marsdenprimary's topic in Windows 7
We have been using MDT for a while if you need to see a local set up as well you are welcome to come and see and ask questions. I currently have a task sequence that loads Windows 7, automates various installs etc then pauses for an manual steps and then once resumed, starts the capture.- 43 replies

Also I would consider changing your snmp-server settings as well (unless you are using something to manage the switches using SNMP) as it's open to abuse currently. You want to set it to restricted or something like that so you can still query it for performance, CPU, Free mem etc (Cacti, Nagios etc). At the moment someone might be able to change your config with the right tool. As noted as well QOS for your voice VLAN just add "voice" on it's own (unser the VLAN context) will get you going with that.

What kind of policies or regulation standard type things need to be abided by by a company such as MLS to have access to you MIS data? Is there a certain ISO they have to be compliant in or a document they need to sign or is it down to the data they hold on their servers? Just trying make sure I understand our legal obligations here for using their hosted service and them having a connection to our MIS.

I can confirm that behaviour.

To build my reference image I have a task sequence that builds 90 % of the image for me, this includes installing certain application and applying tweaks via scripts etc. For the stuff I can't automate I use a pause in the task sequence and do the manual stuff there. What this means is I can start a new image build and leave it for an hour etc. I then come back apply the last manual tweaks at set it going again, this then captures the image. This needs minimal input from me. You then have your base image. Once this is acquired you just build up your collection of drivers on the workbench and you can either let plug and play take care of it or you can get the model names through WMI during installation and point it at a particular folder of drivers.

Great stuff this has definitely got my attention as a potential new hobby. There is quite a lot of stuff to get your head around which is great so I am currently researching and resisting the impulse to buy now!

It will either be embedded or it will be just a server with lots of bays so in that case Open-e, Openfiler or FreeNas etc.

ChrisH replied to mac_shinobi's topic in General Chat
Exams are £100 each and I would get yourself the books to go with them and self study. I have done this with about 9 MS exams now. -
You beat me to it! My secondary DPM server is currently being served 5 TB over ISCSI from a HP Microserver running Freenas.

[sims] SIMS Deployment Crossroads - SOLUS3 or RemoteApp
ChrisH replied to mobybrick's topic in MIS Systems
SIMS will use the instance of office on the server. To get a "seamless" experience you will need to get rid of a few of the warnings that may pop up. This will involve signing the remote app with a trusted certificate and setting some GPO stuff. A member did a good blog post about it @ Using SSO (Single Sign On) with Remote Desktop for Thin Clients - Blogs - EduGeek.net -
[sims] SIMS Deployment Crossroads - SOLUS3 or RemoteApp
ChrisH replied to mobybrick's topic in MIS Systems
We have used SIMS as a remote app with no issues for a couple of years now. Reports and printing work fine, certainly takes the headaches out of updating.
