Use VNC. The behaviour you describe is normal for remote desktop to a machine that is not a Server/TS/RD Server.

For xp 2003 etc and maybe later you can setup certain folders that signify those folders are to be copied to the c: drive or windows. These folders go at a certain level near the source files. The folders are named $ and $$ I think one is the c drive and one is the windows drive if I find a decent link I will post it.

You are correct you will need 2 separate standard licences or an enterprise/data centre license. I know they have changed the pricing structure but £500 per physical CPU sounds a lot to me. I'm sure we didn't pay much more than that for a 6 CPU entitlement although that was before the price structure changed. If I was you I would take a serious look at Hyper V as I am at the moment. If you are not wanting the advanced VMware features, hyper V with SCVMM would work out cheaper and you will still get live migration etc as long as you were running clustered storage.

I would usually team them or they have to be on different subnets. Watch your DNS registration as you may not want all of them to have a DNS entry, depending on your routing etc it could mess things up.

I discounted the driver as it does the same when you print a settings page or something straight from the printer control panel. I will try a document full of letters to see if it's always the same.

We have one HP 4015 Mono printer which is not printing the images properly. There are two vertical lines on the page that are almost like that part of the print has been moved down or displaced. As first I thought it was just lines but then I noticed the relevant text was still printed but it was a lot lower down than the line it should have been on. I have: Replaced the toner Checked the fuser for any damage and as far as I can see there is none. Unfortunately we don't have another one to swap around with. Ran all the cleaning page jobs etc. The results are the same if you send the job from a computer or get a page to print from the printer control panel. Sometimes it doesn't have this problem but I am starting to suspect that this is on documents that don't have anything to print in those areas. Any ideas? All sensible suggestions will be rewarded with thank you.

If they on the same domain though they will be using the same schema so they should both be the same, that what I was trying to determine. Try the compare and see what it comes up with.

I'm not sure then, I was just wondering if there is some renaming for some objects in an updated 2008 R2 schema. Glad you like the avatar

That is the EPR result for the role of ICT Network Manager in Lancashire. It will not change and you will start at the bottom of that salary range unless you are already on a similar scale in the county. From what I have seen of other counties results the top end is fairly good compared to others although it will take you 5 increments to get there! These are schools/council jobs and these wages have been set by "a panel of experts" so they are not going to change. If you wan't a higher grading you will need to take on a lot more responsibility and that will take you away from the sphere of IT management too often. As already stated talk of wages is not allowed as it takes the topic to the same inevitable place, start your own topic! That's the .net framework that wasn't support in R1 it is in R2 though now though. Seems crazy that it wasn't originally. I have had it running on a virtual machine for normal windows services and it's pretty good. I did a normal install of full and core side by side and the core was ready to go when the full was halfway through file copying. Core is certainly happy with a lot less memory as you can imagine so I hope that would equate to faster with more memory than full.

Most GPO settings are cosmetic so I think you will be safe in this case. It's when programs start using non start windows dialog boxes that usually causes issues and gets around GPOs.
