We're using redirected AppData & UE-V. Still in the early days but working well so far.

We use a software program called EasyBadge with a card printer. Imports from CSV, Excel you name it. Search for a name and click 'Print'. We do cards for all staff and students.

I have it on mine but I'm using the XML layout method. I did find the explorer link is at a different path if you redirect AppData or Start Menu. So if you create the XML layout on a admin account which isn't redirected it doesn't show up.

Anyone getting this? I'm running local profiles only now and I'm wondering if its the route I want to take, just be nice to have the option.

Redirected the start menu and its done the same thing. Works first login but not the second. All the program links are in the redirected folder and the taskbar works fine.

Hi All, I've managed to get my start menu and taskbar layout working well on a local profile account, but roaming profile accounts screw up on the second login. Resetting the roaming profile solves the problem until the 2nd login again. The start menu looks like this: The start menu is not redirected but AppData is. If you search for programs they do show up so no problem there. If I look in the roaming profile I can't find any Start Menu items, but if I look in the AppData folder stored on the server I find all the shortcuts. I'm wondering if I need to redirect the start menu to get it to work? The machine is Windows 10 1703, the layout is set via the XML file from group policy. Local profile accounts (No roaming profile with AppData redirected) work fine. Anyone come across this? Thanks, Rob

DHCP springs to mind as the default lease time is 8 days? Is that installed on your file server?

I would suggest you try and link the VLAN ID to the IP range. So for my network I have VLAN 172.16.10 as VLAN10, 172.16.20 as VLAN 20. Makes management down the line easier. (Someone else told me this, and its true)

You'll need to create a XML file from your Windows 10 image with the file associations you need and push this out via group policy. https://4sysops.com/archives/default-file-associations-in-windows-10/

Hi All, I'm trying to create a App-V package of Office 2016 but having no luck at all. I'm following this guide: https://msitproblog.com/2015/11/14/how-to-create-an-office-2016-appv-package/ I managed to create an App-V package on the first go, but it won't import saying there's something wrong with the file. So I thought I'd try and re-create it, but every time I do it fails with the following: I've re-imaged the machine multiple times to make sure no hang overs are left from the original attempt but get the same error. Anyone managed to App-V Office 2016? Can you help? Does your App-V package activate via KMS? What I'm trying to do is move all software to App-V so I only have a clean Windows 10 image to deploy. No locally installed software. Well, that's the hope. Thanks Rob Holmes

The management IP of the switch can't be on anything but VLAN1, but you can access the management interface and telnet from every VLAN. So set that IP address to something outside your VLANs (Otherwise it will complain when setting up routing) and just access it by the VLAN gateway address.

I have it set to Update which should change settings if you change the defaults on the server. As for deleting say office printers. I found doing a 'Delete All' slowed down logins as it would delete the virtual print queue each time and everyone wants it anyway. So only use this for a sort time while moving over to the new system. So for things like office printers, use update and set item level so it only installs for certain user groups (IE Admin printer for Admin Staff). Then copy that printer and change it to 'Delete'. Change the item level targeting to 'Is not' and it should remove the printer if a non admin logins in. Your virtual queue should just be set to 'Update' as everyone will get it.

I saw this on a machine. Removing and re-installing 4.7 seemed to fix it. Running a repair didn't. Broke some exam software we used as well as SOLUS3.

Is it mapping the home drive letter to a card reader or other storage device? It won't show up in Computer if the storage is empty so easily missed. Check Disk Management.

Roaming for both Staff & Students. All folders are redirected including AppData. Looking to introduce UEV when we move to Windows 10 to reduce use of the roaming profile. We don't tend to have size issues with the profiles, more just login or application issues which mean we need to reset the whole profile.

I would suggest you look at RFID if you can. The problem with codes is people will just share them, guess them etc. They just all become common knowledge and thus useless for authenticating.

I have some SFP ones on order, but have found my existing HP ones work fine. I'm just going to trunk some fibre cables so purchased more.

I recently purchased and installed two EdgeSwitches as a core switch (Or two). InterVLAN routing between 5 networks. We're a very small networks compared to a lot of peoples but they seem good and easy to manage.
