As far as I understand it MSE is for home use only, not schools. So be careful where you use it.

A school I tech at just got one of these: Inclusive Technology Ltd Inclusive Interactive Plasma Screens Might be a good idea? No projector needed which solves the 'Calibration' problems, and it can be wheeled out? Some good stuff on that site.

I have been running Office 2010 beta for a bit. I have Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 with redirected documents (Test environment) and the pst files (I have 3?) are in Documents and running over the network. Never noticed till now.

I am study it at the moment, looking to maybe take the test in summer. Its nice to work through the book and find things you haven't done or heard of before. This is first Microsoft Exam for me too. Not used the CD yet, been busy with my College HND course. Good Luck!

I might also be looking in to getting one, as I often test operating systems and software the need for lots of keys and software packages is growing. I will keep an eye on this.

Administrative Templates>System/Logon>Use Classic Logon = Enable Is that what you are looking for? You can't select your domain, but I know were you can set the default domain. You just enter DOMAIN\USER to logon locally or on another domain

I picked up a Ex Display 3610 (Dual Core Atom, 2Gb, No OS) for about £180, not bad? They may well be coming down tho. Has anyone used these in a Primary School? I know primary software is a lot more graphical and wonder how they perform.

Doesn't Aero off load some of the graphics processing on to the GPU were as classic and basic leave it on the CPU. So it can be better on the RAM and GPU if you GPU can handle it? I might have made that up but I think its the case? Anyone going to back me up?

I think its to do with the resolution of the screen, but might be wrong on that. I know my 10" netbook has the vista green loading bar.

@Skinny - Thanks for the link and info, like the arrange registry edit. Very useful. I have currently setup a OU inside the OU 'Students' that is call 'Class1' and put the 'Class1' account in there (Or will when I roll it out, currently test in there). I think the redirection is easy for Class1, but how do you guys go on for wireless laptops. Do you worry about them going out of wireless range and not picking up the desktop? Does offline files overcome this? Or could you maybe cache it another way? I know schools that have redirection currently don't on the laptops for the reason they may go out of wireless range. Thanks for advice!

Ok sort of started to do that (Created OU currently with test account in there) and made a folder, but might rethink the locaiton. I will look in to loopback as I haven't heard of that before. When I see 'mandatory profile' do you mean one that doesn't save changes to the server when they log off? I like the idea for the Today's Lesson and was going to use the whole desktop as a 'Today's Lesson' sort of 'You can use these programs'. I am lucky that I have a Windows Server 2003 in VM here at home to mess with. So I might load it up and a few XP clients and trail different ways. One thing I was going to do, was have a folder called 'Desktops' with 'Class 1 Desktop' in there and add desktop folders as I move more class's over, then also have a 'Common Icons' were all the program's I install round the school are placed, so the teacher can move the icons into which ever desktop they are controlling. Is this how you do yours? Also how do you create website links? Do staff copy the URL and make a shortcut, or do you have a easier way. I am think some sort of 'Favorite' button that adds a website link to the 'Common Icons' desktop or even the 'Class Desktop' folder. Thanks

I thought about it not been put on to start with, but I can't see the PC been put on its side recently and its not new. And how could someone leave a PC without switching it on! I mean it would get to the BIOS screen when cold and display 'Heat Warning' and then power down. Some people hey!

Hi, I support many small primary schools, most have Windows Server 2003 / XP Domains. Most currently don't have any desktop redirection and ones that do redirect all students login's to one folder on the server. I was asked today if I could organize the desktop icons in Class 1 of one of my schools, they don't have any redirection currently (Due to a large number of laptops), so I am looking for idea's of how you guys do this? Currently the school in question has class accounts, not per pupil. Class 1 which I am intending to more to redirected first don't tend to use laptops that often (If at all) and have wired desktops. So offline caching isn't the problem at the moment, but I am wanting to role this out to more class's or even schools. I am also wanting to make staff able to view and edit the desktop folders (A shortcut on there desktop) so they can put icons or website shortcuts on to the desktop and control what applications kids see. (I know they can launch them from the start menu too) So just looking for idea's really. Thanks a lot Rob Holmes

The only thing I can see is nice big ones. They seem to last longer as the extension on them is stronger and doesn't break of snap.

I found a Stone PC today, it was sat on its side (So motherboard was upright) and the case was still screwed up, but it was restarting (Heat problems) so i went to take a look inside and the intel cooler (775 socket) was hanging off! The plugs were turned too, has to have been a good knock to do that, and would they turn as they come off? Or has someone else been in? (I am part time, like 2 hours every 2 weeks). I think its just one of those things, still a odd one.

I have this install at one of my Primary Schools this morning. I found it would only show on 'Admin' accounts (None Domain) and not 'Limited' accounts the pupils use. So when I restarted after updates I closed the menu and deleted the desktop shortcut, after restarting again it didn't load up again. Other machines I unchecked from installing but I should think automatic updates will pick it up again.

I can only think of things I use for overclocking: 3DMarks (Bench) PCMarks (Bench) Prime95 (Stress Test) ATITool (Stress Test) HD Tune (HDD benchmark/testing)

I have this on my NC10, Windows 7 Ultimate and its very good. Get around 6 hours battery if I can carefull. You don't get the Windows 7 boot, you get the green bar I think becourse of the resilution, something like that. All netbooks I have seen use the green bar. I only wish that the CPU was a bit more powerfull and that Flash would use the GPU more, as youtube HD won't play very well at all.

Ok, after having to run Disk Check on another PC I have it is uploading. So looks like its a problem with my testrig. I will have to look in to that. I have 2 HDD's in it and boot from one for 'Windows 7 Domain' and the other 'Windows 7 Clean Testing' and so when I came to image it, so I could deploy a nice fresh image everytime I wanted to test something, I only wanted to image the second HDD with Windows 7 Clean on. So I remove the other Domain HDD and restored the MBR so that it would boot without the 'Choose which OS'. Looks like that is coursing problems. Still now I know that it works.

I just install it on Saturday and it was 0.28 (Latest). It first time I installed it so its all on same PC (Dead old thing, but thought it would do)

Hi, I have setup and installed FOG on a Ubuntu 8.04 desktop, I have everything running, solved all password problems and now got to uploading a image. I set the task running and get to the blue screen with 'Please Wait' and then it doesn't upload it will just skip to 'Restoring MBR' and restart? I have 777 the images folder and i can see it creating the (MAC address i think) folder in the /images/dev/. Any ideas?
