Windows 7 can do this by wireless SSID if I remember right, is that any use?

I have been looking in to this to and not got far, Picasa uses local databases for storing edits and renamed etc, so the user as to click 'Save' on every image to save the changes to the disk / original image. It also tends to lose drive maps for some reason (Or so I found). Now looking in to using Eye-Fi to get pictures on to the server where I want them, but still rely on simple folders structure.

I would be carefull with XP on a SSD it doesn't have TRIM support does it?

I had this too. There is a option for 'accessibility' which puts it in light version.

WOW that is cool, never seem them before. Like you say that would get your pictures on to the server and looking at the software it does seem to support multiple cards and destinations for each card. Very interesting and I might even infest in one myself to have a play with. Thanks for the link.

I work in many primary school and have come across a common problem. Child tracking using photo's, staff seem to take loads of pictures of the children for there assessments and tracking etc, all of which are imported to the server in there own My Pictures folders. Many of the schools are becoming full with multiple high resolution images. I would like to know if anyone has a way of managing this software wise? Due to the support structure to the schools I am only on site for a limited amount of time which means setting cameras to lower res etc isn't possible. Idealy i'm looking for the following: Camera Import Auto Resize Central Share Storage (IE Import to one share and not My Pictures) User Permissions (Head access all classes etc) Size Limits Local Software (Not really after web based) Anyone got any ideas? I have tried things like Picasa but it has to be setup per staff account and often loses settings and shares.

Umm, well one problem I did find was it wouldn't wait for the installer to finish before writing the text file, but it should run it even if it doesn't install. You made the change to the EXE location and its somewhere that users can read and exc? Are you running it by GPO startup scripts or just manually? I will try and find away of making the script wait for the installer to finish before writing the file. Maybe some on on here knows. (Maybe this thread would be better in the scripts section?)

If I am right in thinking these can not be used over a 'network', they are just using the media? If so you would need a hub so it sent the same image to all converters and screens? But never experienced these before so not sure.

I have created a custom uVNC Single Click program for clients to run when downloaded from my site, it does require you to have a base tho (Some where to forward the request to), this got round the whole 'Personal Use Only'. Its also more professional to have your own remote support. You should be able to set up a system with VPN to access you 'base' from anywhere. I think the link provided was for a older version that doesn't work with Vista or Windows 7 due to Session 0/1 problems, but I can find you the link to the latest one which has fixed the problem.

Been using DD-WRT for a bit now. Very useful for all sorts of different things. The one thing I got it for was sub netting my network in 2, but haven't managed to do that yet due using a different router for internet and it blocking the internet at the same time. I'm sure I am just doing something wrong but never fixed it. For now I am happy with it. Also good for running multiple WiFi, I sometimes need to connect 3rd part laptops to my network and don't want to add them to my nice Wireless N with security, so create a unencrypted WiFi and connect to that.

Have you deployed the red_vc.msi file (I think it is) before deploying 10.6? Its in the driver zip file you download. I found I needed to deploy this before I could deploy 10.6, otherwise it was uninstall and not install 10.6, leaving staff without any notebook.

As far as I know the 100MB is for bit-locker, didn't they have problems with bit-locker failing to load on Vista and there wasn't any way of recovering it. So they made the 100MB for bit-locker to live in so it can be repaired? GOOGLE! Ok, got a bit mixed up, its not to repair bit-locker, but contains boot and recovery files stored outside of bit-locker. So if you need to repair your installation it can boot in to recovery without needing bit-locker to unlock the C drive. By the sounds of it it will only effect you if you use bit-locker, and if you don't have the 100MB partition it will just mean the recovery and boot files are on the main partition. Correct me if I'm wrong on that.

I have managed to do this with VMWare Workstation, I was testing the deployment of a image and created a blank 'Test Image' VM, deployed fine. But that was from one VM to another (Slight different config and HDD size)

I would suggest you look at a better screen for photo work, something that has a better colour. There are these new IPS panels that are meant to be a lot better at color than the LCD ones. Check this one out on bit-tech You also might want to look in to a monitor calibration device to help with setting up the screen correctly. Something like this Good Luck!

Way most of the servers I work on are set up is the following: OUs are by location Each room OU has its own computer statup script that creates a reg key (I think its put were the computer name is stored) with the room name set. A login script is used with If room = ICT1 Then and it will setup the correct printers and defaults for that room. This will allow you to easily move computers from room to room just by moving them in the OU structure.

Thanks ever so much, that is what I was looking for, now these are my findings, the two slow processes when logging on are: User Profile Service Preparing Dekstop Just loaded up my test computer and its the same slow login on those 2 accounts. So to me its looking like a profile problem. As there profiles are very small (Around 2.5mb) why is it taking so long? I will do some more testing. This domain setup isn't setup correctly as it was a 'My First Network' sort of deal, just for messing with and testing but I do now use it and so do my parents, so with Windows 7 on a 4Gb machine with a 1Gb network connection to be waiting. My own profile seems fine (It is over 400mb big!) and loads fine on my computer, when tested on my testrig it was slow on the 'User Profile Service' but 'Preparing desktop' wasn't that slow. Compared to the other 2 accounts it seems fast enough (And see as its 400mb, going to look in to that now, probs folder redirection problems I think, all sorted now tho. Thanks

I have 2 Windows 7 computers on a Windows Server 2008 domain, recently the 2 office Windows 7 computers have been getting very slow on 2 user accounts that are mainly used on the 2 computers. My admin account with no profile, nice and clean logs on pretty fast, but the 2 user accounts in question take AGES to log on and off, profiles are only 2.6mb. Looked in event viewer and found a problem with redirection, but no real help. I am after a GPO setting that displays the GPO been applied and not the 'Welcome' message when logging on, so I can see what GPO or processes is taking to long. After doing loads of googling I can't find one but sure there is one! Thanks a lot Rob Holmes

I have personal bought one of these, I already had a W7Pro license and so didn't want to buy W7Home, so I got the Linux version, does your supplier have any of these? Revo 3610 with Limpus Linux I think it is.
