You really need decrypted and inspect on any filtering you go with. Otherwise your blind to a large chunk of web traffic going over your connection. Other things to consider are safeguarding reports, AD integration. How the filter authenticates you? IE do you need a client, are all your devices supported iOS, Android, Chrome etc.

I have the Fluke IntelliTone Pro 200 I think it is. Not cheap but great for tracing cables which you don't know the number for. However it will only test the cable for working pairs not speed. I think your in to a lot more money for speed. Can you get to the sleeve of the cables to check for specs? CAT5 or Cat5e for example? After that connect a laptop and see what speeds you maintain copying a file.

I'm not sure I understand you about a readable config file. I'm happy with which ever is easier for you. I thought supplying the config file name by a switch would be easier than querying AD.

Check Office 365 Admin>Services and Addons. I think there's a setting in there to allow uses to give permission. Just as a side, do you need a SIMs ID license for this? Last time I asked our LA MIS you did.

I would say it would be better to allow you to specify the config using a run switch. A default as it us now but something like this: Examwritepad.exe -config ExamStaff.cfg To me it would archive what people want but keep it simple.

I think you need to either enable more logging or check for the logs in Program Files. Have a look on the Papercut Knowledge Base for their location.

You might need to check the logs to see what machine name and IP address the print server is sending the notification too. That way you can confirm in DNS the name and IP are correct.

I'd also like to know if a record version will be available as I was in a meeting during the webcast. Thank you VeryPC -
We're using the Azure MFA ad-in/plugin for Remote Desktop. Its good to have one system which protects both Office 365 & Remote Desktop. Be warned however that remote desktop needs a 'Active' MFA method. Meaning staff need to pick 'Phone Call' or 'Approval by Authenticator App'. A lot of staff like to pick the first option which is 'Code by SMS' which you can't use.

Thank you. Been able to skip it would be good as we have accounts which login and auto load the software. So at the moment this is an extra step to that setup. Thanks

Information Screens around school....
robyholmes replied to kennysarmy's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
We currently have two although are looking to get another if budgets allow. One in reception shows Ofsted statements, key results, news and upcoming events (All from the website). Our corridor display shows messages to students (Lost property, lunch clubs etc) plus attendance and which assembly it is on what day (As we do them in houses). Both screens also display the Weather, News and our School Twitter. All the above is run using Xibo. We also have a temporary laptop with the client installed on it which gets used during events on a mobile screen we have in our meeting room. -
@ass17 Is there anyway to skip the splash screen at start up? IE to go straight in to a new exam?

Have a look at Prowise Presenter: https://www.prowise.com/en/presenter-software/ -
Are you redirecting your AppData folder? If so have you tried using an account without it. We got rid of Redirect AppData after to many issues with it on Windows 10 although I can't say this was one of them.

Might not be authenticating correctly? I'd check the logs to see if it reports anything if you haven't already.

Is it your web proxy causing the issue and you've got more relaxed rules on the admin account?

SSL Inspection and BYOD/guest Users - How do you do it?

Captive portals in including UniFi allow you to redirect to a certain URL. We just point then to the Smoothwall certificate page. However you could host your own if you wanted. -
[1903, au] Profiles - Mandatory for Kids, Roaming for Staff - Possible in W10?
robyholmes replied to JRA's topic in Windows 10
Local profiles with UEV is the route we took. Working well for both staff and students. -
Swap the power supply and see if it just killed that. Also check your earth's in the room in question.

For what I've found out, if you using Shared Device Licencing, this is the expected outcome. Now Microsoft have a solution, called 'Device Based Licence' or 'Device Based Activation'. However, this only seems to be available to EES customers, not OVES which most schools are on. So I would put your thoughts to your Microsoft reseller as I will be doing and for the time being, use Office 2016 or 2019 which uses the old activation method. Or ExamWritePad if you don't need office?

Migrating shared areas to SharePoint / Teams / OneDrive
robyholmes replied to TJ-Diggers's topic in Cloud Services
We are currently running both local storage and cloud with one department testing Teams/SharePoint/OneDrive sync. All our staff have OneDrive Files on Demand setup with autostart and sign in. Students have the same but currently it doesn't autostart (Although I plan to set it up soon). As for shared areas, we're testing but currently we simply copied and pasted to a OneDrive synced folder. So we have a Team setup, which creates the SharePoint 'Files' area which you sync via the Windows 10 built in OneDrive client. We're also testing Office 365 to try and avoid having to sync things but I think we'll still need to for other software to use it. -

Can't remember on distance between, but that really depends on the K&M setup you pick. Best measure it and allow some more for future changes. As for depth, we went with 900mm deep kitchen worktop. We couldn't find any suitable legs which allowed you to put a chair in and not hit your legs so I designed some in CAD and got them made by a local company. Mainly out of 30mm tube with some adjustable feet to get it all levelled. PM if you want some more info on the legs. Happy to share the design.
