Hi All, I have a school who we're wanting to setup ExamWritePad for but they don't have C++ 2013 Redistributable being installed as part of MDT. So I'm needing to deploy it retrospectively. Has anyone managed to do this without using SCCM? I'm sure you used to be able to get the MSI's out of it but that doesn't seem to be the case any more. Thanks, Rob

We have readers both sides. All staff, students and DBS visitors have cards. Certain staff are allowed bypass during a lock down. However it's not trigger straightaway, it's a judgement call depending on what's happening.

We've got this setup with a set of lock down fobs in our main office. Mounted up high out the way so they don't get borrowed... That would be fun.

Teams or Google Classroom?

Limited to staff creation here as we had a lot of 'Chat' groups going on when students could create them. We also use SDS to create teams for each class which means its only lunch time clubs etc which need teams creating. Departments all have a team created by myself already.

Looks like its blocking the icons and the alt text is over the normal text.

Can you use a PC in the middle, so sync Google to the PC then use a scanning program to scan to that folder? Not really what your after but it should work.

So I've installed the V5.7 driver but now I'm getting this error and ActivManager won't start. I did a repair install but still the same. Any ideas?

What sort of thing are you looking for? We normally go for 900mm wide worktop for computer rooms and the last one we did we got some legs made up to our design which allowed students to sit and not hit the legs.

Pretty much exactly the same for us. SEN laptops used by students on a 'Laptop List' which are then given that option for the exam. ExamWritePad is used in combination with special exam accounts which are locked down with AppLocker. They run on battery and so long as the battery is good they'll last. We make sure the brightness is all the way down at the start of the exam to save battery and stop people sat further away seeing the screen (Laptop uses are at the back of the hall on double tables)

I've also been asking Microsoft partners about this and putting examples to them. One example is visitor accounts and they've said we should licence them as we do students or staff. To me that's not applying licencing correctly but it seems to be the only solution. I'll likely to deploy Office 365 over summer so lets see what appears between then and now.

Sounds like the thing to try is directly connecting the serial to a machine which has one. To prove if the serial to usb adapter is the issue. If not then I can also try the V5.7 driver.

No I've been using the latest V5.8 version. Promethean released a special version for 1903 which we used as well and that didn't help.

There not no. I should be able to find a PC running Windows 10 with a serial port I could try that. Drivers for the serial to USB (prolific based) are installed by Windows and device manager is happy.

Hi All, I'm aware the older Promethean V1 and V2 boards have issues with Windows 10. I support a school who has a lot of these boards and having upgraded to Windows 10 we're struggling to get them to work. My main school has a couple of V2 boards connected by USB and they seem to be working fine even. However the boards this other school has are serial versions with serial to USB adapters. So I'd like to confirm if anyone has got these to work. School is running Windows 10 1809 (1903 is meant to have issues although we're running it here fine). We've tried a number of driver versions and the serial to USB adapter looks to be installed correctly. We've installed the ActivDriver with the serial option picked. Thanks in advanced, Rob

We got rid of our reval unit when the first new notes came and and haven't looked back. Parents were all told and our backup was you bring it to reception. Students or parents very rarely do this as most pay via Parent Pay online or use PayPoint (I think it's called) at the post office.

I see the main reason you have separate readers is you might leave the building but still be 'on site' working. Otherwise your PE staff or site manager won't be paid when outside. So then you have to ask, do management want an idea of when staff are onsite (door exits and entry) or do they need to know exactly each day.

We have readers on both sides of all external doors. The main reason we did it was not for staff coming and going but for students. We have an open site which would be very difficult to fence in so we use the readers to send alerts when students leaving during a lesson to our student support and safeguarding staff. We also have the override 'break glass' trigger a Net2 alert & alarm so students can't use that either.

Are you running this on each login? If so how does it handle times when the app is already installed and working? Does it skip or slow logins at all? We don't tend to have many problems just every now and again so I want to make sure it doesn't affect anything else as its not a big issue currently. I'll do some tester after half term and see what happens.

Please can you report back if that works. Looks far to easy to me, ha

I'd also be interested in a DelProf alterative as well as we're finding some apps are missing and I think it might be Delprof2 causing it.

As far as I can see it only lets you limit by the total number of recipients, weather that's in BCC or TO fields. So unless I've understood it wrong it would still block emails when people use the BCC field?

Hi All, I'm wanting to make sure we don't have a data breach by someone in school putting a number of external contacts in the 'To' field of an email. I'd like two rules so the student one has a lower limit but the staff rule is a little higher. Has anyone managed to configure something like this? I've look at Mail Flow, Office 365 Alerts, Data Loss Policies etc. I can't find anyway of doing this? Thanks, Rob

We have ours set at over 100MB for both in Office 365 if I remember right. Its certainly quite high.
