sorry to append to the chaps above, to install adobe you'll beed a license, its free, but you have to apply for it, once you've got it they give you the msi's.

have you checked the services running on the clients? i know BITS and OSE are both required for wsus. Failing that are the clients at least sp1?

give them an old laptop or set up virtual machines for the exam and give them the admin account. There is a policy to allow users to set the time and date, but i'm fairly sure it changes back within a few minutes on an ad domain.

i've only ever worked in an independent sector, to me it seems the funding is more rationalised. we have a similar problem with it forgetting settings, we find though that it comes after a fairly long time scale (every 2 weeks or so ) . We also find that wsus and sophos over wireless can make the laptop barely useable for a lesson. Hence we recommend that one a week or so the machines are pluged into the network for booting.

we do full backups using veritas onto tape for our 2 dc's. We backup our other servers to a backup server with raid 5 array, this syncs weekly with a usb drive which we store offsite.

if you have hips enabled it can. Look at the logon script assoociated with the install username, should give you some clues.

this will be the problem, when a user logs of it doens't always delete the share, so when you try to map a new share it will look at the existing one and not map a new drive. if you use the script below to delete before you add , where p s and z are the drive names. net use p: /d net use s: /d net use z: /d

having the admin tools pack installed should hopefully not be a security risk ( ie teachers wont be able to use it). once deployed onto a machine you can move mmcs around freely.in the same way once word (admin pak ) is installed on a machine you can open word documents (mmc's). have a look at the following link http://www.edugeek.net/forums/showthread.php?t=14088

it is, but it installs the underlieing features which you then use in mmc. once installed you can create a really good custom mmc which allows you to change passwords really easily. was detailed on here somewhere, i'll have a little look.
