  1. It's local to the pc, if you've done it right in Gp it should put a domain group into the local group
  2. Set the deploymentshare as deployroot like below Our Bootstrap.ini file: [settings] Priority=Default [Default] SkipBDDWelcome=YES DeployRoot=\\Servername\DeploymentShare$ UserDomain=DOMAINNAME UserID=SERVICEACCOUNTNAME UserPassword=PASSWORD KeyboardLocalePE=0813:00000813

  5. Vamt will deploy and register the keys, with or without kms as you can choose where you register the keys ( online or kms) but i'm afriad there's no shortcut to just typing in the individual keys!
  6. Sorry, I meant MDT alone , Sans WDS.
  7. self study is easy enough but dont do it all from a book, Testout and Cbt nuggets are both good. Testout is very cheap to students.
  8. Yup, MDT FTW!. Only thing you seem to lose is the ability to pxe boot and multicast, but with a decent network you'll barely notice.
  9. its a beta version of sp1, not sure if unstalling the beta and installing the full release will solve it?
  10. have you checked the event logs, can you describe what you see ? ( does it just switch off or does windows close down gracefully?), have you patched dreamweaver?, What operating system are you using?. What are the similarities and differences between the desktops and laptops?
  11. Yes it can, Our server is virtualised and with no a lot of use its fine with 5gb and 2 cores. The demand will be a lot less without voice.
  12. vote for Lync here, does all sorts of other marvelous stuff too.
  13. Why not do both? What sort of career do you want?. A very good NM should have all the skills involved in an MCSA or MCITP:SA, prehaps a little virtualisation like the MCITP:VA or a vmware qual, and something network based, the CCENT is good. In regard to your Cisco = more money idea, think of it this way, Most network dudes can do some sort of systems engineering, not all systems engineers have done networking. Also networking is a specialised area, Systems engineers have a much broader area
  14. Some Gp's are only picked up at logon so wont show effect untill the second logon... Does that seem plausible for your policies?
  15. go for ipsca, theyre freeeeeee to education.
  16. go with ipsca , theyre free for education.
  17. Random googlefoo... May not be helpful! " Well...I figured it out, I had to go into the device manager and disable the processor's display driver, on start, it was attempting to load both, and I believe that's what was causing the crash. "
  18. Bingo. Thats the puppy. And in contridiction to the above, dont look at remote apps, look at installing a ts gateway instead. Remote apps gives you external access to apps, ts gateway gives you an encrypted route to the inside of your network.
  19. ok, this covers a lot of stuff. The first thing you need to do is find a route from the internet to your server, If you have a static ip address at home then great but the chances are you'll have a dynamic ip which makes things more difficult. you'll need to set your router to listen on its external port and forward traffic internally to your computer. once this is place you should be able to access rdp using the ip address, if you want to set it up to use a name then you can set your external dns server to translate the name to your external ip.
  20. not sure why its happening but you can add a command line of net use //driveletter// /d to remote the mapped drive
  21. Things to think about... Laptops should be ona 3 year cycle, desktops on a 5 year cycle. If they take the laptop home, who is responsible for their home printer/wireless issues, What happens about damages in transit, What happens if the teacher doesn't have the laptop or a substitue is in the room?, Are your staff going to be able to handle docking issues?, Who will fund consumable items such as batteries?.
  22. available is cached memory ready to be used, free is memory thats not being used at all.
  23. Have you done an ip config / all to check the ip settings?.
  24. AppDeploy.com - The Application Deployment Information Center has great ways to silently install exe's. some are easier than creating msi's
  25. today i'll be dressed up as super mario but normally jeans and tshirt. Fed up of toner/dust/random splats on nice clothes and i have to work in the server room so anything more than tshirt really doesn't work! Suit is however hanging up ready in case i need to pretend I have some dignity!
