  1. have you rebooted all the ts servers? are all the services running correctly?
  2. microsoft lync server will do this quite easily!.
  3. certforums.co.uk and techexams.net are great. Wait for preplogic to do a mega guide for a $1 deal, theyre good. Also look at the student discount exams, they are valid for staff as well, £44 for an exam!. The ms press books come with practise exams, Theyre fairly good, they test that you've read the book which is of course vital for the exam!.
  4. There shouldn't be the need for 2 systems, A decent VLE should be able to give you all the information your using on your intranet atm. Having not used fronter I dont know if its capable or not.
  5. The first thing to consider is do you really want all thin client solutions?. Do you have the bandwidth available?, will you have any software that wont sit well on a TS?
  6. terminal services all the way. its renamed rds in 2008 but you can do fantastic things, Web access allows you to run rdp via a website, Gateway allows you to use a vpn tunnel meaing you have security and can rdp into any machine on the network knowing only the name (you can create rdp shortcuts as well) , and remote app is used via weba ccess to start a full rdp session that only shows the window your in so for instance you could get just sims to run seemlessly. can give you creds to our setup if you like.
  7. think it was 1.6 , it was the version that sat either on a network share or the local machine.
  8. That ye newe version, I was looking for ye olde version . Thanks anyhoo though
  9. think its largely the google effect. Hence the large number of one post wonders and blatently non education folks we've seen of late.
  10. if your using a 2008 session broker then dns RR will suffice. the load balancing will be performed by the broker. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc772418(WS.10).aspx
  11. create a cname record in dns for each ip address in the farm, so farm - 10.0.0.1 , farm- 10.0.0.2 for example. if both servers are identical you can import the webapp setup from one server to the other, that'll solve the remoteapp program. its because the software either isn't installed or ins't on the allow list.
  12. anyone got a copy? I really liked it but dont have a copy to hand
  13. you wont get much extra space by using raid 5, you always lose one disk to parity in a raid 5 array. Probably best not to bodge or try to add storage on the cheap.
  14. Why not look at some job adds to see the skills they require then go away , look at the courses and see which one is a fit. You'll need to gain the relevant knowledge, no one will employ you on the basis of a qualifcation alone. Also you may need to start off below system admin.
  15. Similar to what others have said, if you want to learn about domain services then you will need more than a server. You'll need clients too. EAsier option is probably to use some sort of training software rather than trying to arrange your learning around your hardware. something like TechNet Virtual Labs or testout's training software might well be more worthwhile. They both give you explainations, instructions and labs to work on. for testout prob best to look at the ms exam, 70-290 and 70-291 assuming you know the basics about client's.
  16. htc desire, xbox or the server rack I purchased this year, 5 years into this industry and i've never had a proper one before!
  17. no, I buy them for around 80. Look on ebay, stuffusell have been good for us.
  18. Are blooming useful for rescueing it staff stuck upto their car doors in snow!. Just as well he braved the snow to come in!. would have been waiting for weeks to see a teacher
  19. he was part of a group causing mayhem. People should lose their human rights when theyre doing stuff like that, the first thing to do should be to protect the innocent public who know how to behave, second protect those trying to control the problem and lastly to protect the people causing the problem. he was their of his own free will
  20. well done, tell us more about msdnaa, free is my kinda price!
  21. also, if you can, try 2010, looks shiney and fun!
  22. if i had to guess i'd say itwas a corrupt download or a scratched cd.
  23. Not sure I understand what you mean? You want a template to document your software installs? , that would be as easy as using a few headings on excel wouldn't it?
  24. easier option is to backup the d drive using ntbackup , stick in a new disk, move the d drive to the new disk. Once thats safely done then delete the old d drive and extend the c drive.
  25. if your using 7 you can just change the partition size
