  1. Afternoon all. got a bit of a conundrum and I am currently looking for a needle in a hack stack. After inactivity, our iPads revert to the unknown device captive portal login. Turn wifi off/on or moving to a new AP sorts the issue out but it is inconvenient at best! Palo losing source user from Aerohive local PSK – seems like timeout after 30 mins with no data transferred. Timeout seems to only happen overnight as that’s the only time the iPads go without communicating through the firewall long enough to drop from Palo Alto firewall. Still not convinced it’s Aerohive as on hivemanager the device still shows as connected with good strength but I am not knowledgeable enough to know if this is a firewall or wireless problem. Any help even if its just a shot in the dark would be greatly appreciated!
  2. Couple of threads regarding content below. We have about 10 screens around school with carrying content on. Instalation was straight forward but that was with the old version and not the new docker version. We havent used that yet. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/85502-xibo-accomplishments.html http://www.edugeek.net/forums/av-multimedia-related/108001-ideas-digital-signage-content.html
  3. Know how to do this manually but cant find any info on how to do this via policy? Any info greatly appreciated.
  4. Is there anyway to automate the export of the webpage?
  5. Hi all. Wondering if anyone puts there papercut usage on any signage around school. I've had a mess around with the widgets but can't figure out how to get anything going without logging in as someone. We use xibo for our signage. Any tips or tricks appreciated!
  6. Just wondering if this is still being updated? If not is there something similar people have been working on that I have missed? Thanks
  7. Could I also have the guide. Thanks
  8. Cheers will go back and do a bit of testing. See if I can make cached mode a bit more happy
  9. Thanks Chaplic We have always encountered more problems with cached exchange with botched profiles and "click to load from server" etc. In my opinion, I have always thought email should be live rather than cached anyway as it seems old hat to me to be pulling and pushing emails to a local machine rather than just viewing them live.
  10. Hi All. We've had cached mode switched off via group policy for quite a while as it seemed to fix several glitches. Since doing so I have noticed that often outlook freezes for a few seconds each time it checks back online for new content which can be quite often. Our machines/network/pipe are all decent so I'm not sure what is clogging it up when calling home. Anyone got any ideas on what I could change to sort the issue? Cheers
  11. If you have paper cut could you use email to print?
  12. Yes although haven't log a call about it so be worth calling and seeing if any issues. No staff have mentioned it but I have noticed when updating users etc
  13. I'm always a bit sceptical around the spin the biometrics guys push. If it can read a fingerprint the the image of the fingerprint is stores somewhere and somewhere. It may be behind some very clever encryption but if the encryption key/method is ever broken then surely the images can be reverse engineered? Please correct me if I'm wrong. The other bit of spin from the biometrics guys is that the fingerprint data is not accurate enough to be emisable in a court of law. Correct me if I'm wrong again but......even if it's inaccurate....if only 2 suspects were in a room. Someone was murdered next to the canteen fingerprint reader are they suggesting that the fingerprint match that is completely different to the other person's fingerprint match could not be used? I don't think so.
  14. I'm waiting for the first little Johnny Smith to take a school/parent to court for allowing use of their biometric/DNA/photo consent etc etc in the very near future. At what line will guardians stop giving away data that lasts a life time? and will they be able to give this consent forever?
  15. Yes while I agree I reckon this is a ticking time bomb in itself.
  16. Playing devils advocate.....I would say some students don't understand the implication of having fingerprints taken. Is them putting there finger on the scanner an implication that a 8 year old is happy to have their fingerprint taken?
  17. You might say the same for registration. Image the admin burden lifted if no teachers had to take registers?
  18. The article pertains to the use of biometric data in general. Whilst the school did ask for permission to use the biometric data it was deemed there were better ways to monitor attendance without collecting such sensitive data. Could the same be said for using fingerprints for cashless catering and library software?
  19. Hhhmmmm maybe it's not for me either. I never actually checked!
  20. Did this the other day. Really annoying feature in enterprise environments. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Shutdown.
  21. Any tips on and feeding creatures in gardens without attracting rats. Don't mind anything else in the garden other than rats!
  22. Had this big guy hanging around our garden all weekend. Thought he was injured so rang RSPCA and fed him a fish finger. He seems ok now and has flown back but has come back for another fish finger! He seems scarily tame as I can get right next to him/her.
  23. I have a massive collection keywords i have been adding to over the years which is separated into safeguarding/timewasting/rude etc. I will put them in a googlwe spreadsheet and share them on here for anyone to use and add to.
  24. If I am honest I cant see the arrangement lasting long so want to spend as little money/time as possible so building something might not be the best option. Also, I don't think a portable whiteboard would fly. Anyone know of anywhere I can purchase one of the pull down things?
  25. We are in need of sourcing a dry erase roll down blind or something similar that can cover an IWB. I had seen them many moons again in a different school but cant find them anywhere!....................Also before anyone mentions it I know this is completely counter-intuitive and stupid to cover an IWB but this is not my battle to fight!. Any help sourcing appreciated.
