  1. Hi all. Struggling to find any documentation on this. We have SDS setup to sync parent guardian information for parents. We know teams can send a digest of assignments at the weekend but would love to get a look of how it arrives for parents. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/microsoftteams/expand-teams-across-your-org/assignments-in-teams?WT.mc_id=TeamsAdminCenterCSH#bkemaildigest What we really want to figure out though is how our staff a see parent contact information through teams/office 365. We can see something in teams admin center that suggests this is possible but cant figure out how to use it! Anyone using this feature or know anything about it?
  2. I might be mistaken but I don't think students can comment / message when that button is used either. I don't think it's designed for this reason but will give roughly the same effect.
  3. We've just done a similar thing. Within our "all staff" team I have made a staff meeting channel. Within this there are 2 recurring meetings. Break and lunch time. Have added some random convo starters to the channel as well like "any ideas on good TV shows" etc. I think there is a knack for getting the first person in there . They Alost need a bit of insentive. But after that we had quite a few people at one point. Any ideas on incentives for first person in being Billy no mates?
  4. To answer my own question......Microsoft are bringing out a "participant list" list which sees who joined a meeting and for how long. Says will be out by the end of the month along with "Hands up" feature.
  5. Going to be using teams and wondered if anyone had an novel/clever/wild ways of students registering that that have taken part in a lesson. We want to be able to follow up certain "meetings" with parents if students haven't attended. Someone mentioned using an assisngment that was open for the entirety of lesson then students "viewed" which would show if they turned up or not. Seemed workable bit wondered if any better ideas? Thanks
  6. Out of interest did you manage to centrally add the SharePoint library or did you have to do it for each individual team?
  7. Cheers for the help everyone. Feels like an uphill struggle trying to seperate out the data.
  8. Thanks. Have asked them to send the contract and have now read. No get out. Just wondering the legality of having the contracts signed by our old bursar and old network manager over ten years ago. Would those signatures still be acceptable in the contract now the initial contract time is up and is rolling on?
  9. Hi All Hoping for some advice We have a support contract with our phones which we have been paying for since 2013. I inherited the school 3 years ago and have never used the support. I planned on scrapping it this year and paying on an ad hoc basis should we have a problem. It turns out I have missed the cut off period for canceling the support this year by a week which is really annoying. I had discussed it with my account manager who wasn't budging one bit in terms of either being flexible and allowing us not to pay for support or paying for 3-month support rather than the whole year. Bearing in mind we have other contracts I assume he would like to keep with us I was really annoyed with his attitude and inflexibility on this. Does anyone have any advice on this bearing in mind: I have never seen a copy of the rolling contract I have never been informed about the 42days written notice as I wasn't the one that signed the original contract they are long gone Is there any "coolin off clause" I should know about? Would it be childish of me to make a nuisance of myself should we have to pay the contract? Thanks for any advice
  10. They are encrypted and in a safe just at the bursars house.
  11. Thanks very much. Lots of food for thought! Think we need to go through our retention policies.
  12. Thanks. So I could potentially have 25 years' worth of tapes that I need to go through to be 100% sure? How does everyone else manage this?
  13. Fair point. Does anyone keep archives anymore? If so how do they manage this? Maybe I need to readdress how we do things.
  14. Do you mean the days of making archives are gone? If so what do you do with your finance and SEN infro that has to stick around? Also what is PII please? Thanks
  15. Just current. Would we be expected to trawl back through archives? For example, I have physical archived backups on tapes at the bursars house in a safe. Am I expected to go back through these? Thanks
  16. Morning All I have read over multiple threads in regards to SARs but I haven't answered my own question as of yet. We have had a request and I have pulled back all emails that contain the person's first name/surname/email/initials . I have redacted and sent on all the information I have. Their lawyers have come back and have suggested we are missing some emails. I have been 100% open with the emails I have I have grabbed but obviously, without going through every email in everybody's inbox I can't be 100% sure I have everything. We have gone back to the lawyers and asked for more specifics and have searched for those also but have had nothing extra from the search. What should be our reply here? I'm a bit confused about what I should be expected to do at this point. For all I know the email they are after could have been deleted before the request? Thanks for any advice
  17. We use our old two old dell servers with direct attached storage. One for backups and for replication should we lose our main servers in a different building.
  18. Thanks very much
  19. You wouldn't mind me taking a look at your plan would you? Embarking on such a document myself soon!
  20. All valid points. Would be happy to support it as long as it wasn't too onerous . Really just thinking of ways off clawing money back for the school and our great unused facilities IT facilities seem a little wasted currently.
  21. Just wondered if anyone rents out their labs or IT facilities. We have a really nice lab in a very pretty building which would be perfect for renting out over holiday periods for some extra income to school . I have no idea who to rent them to and what for but wondered if anyone did the same? I have been to some very dodgy training sessions in the past in some poor locations and just though to myself it's a shame there are long periods of no use. Any ideas?
  22. Hope everything is OK and remember where we are if you need a hobnob!
  23. Don't care if it is the wrong forum but..... Just want to say thanks sooooo much for posting jobs for all these years. I get a subsrisbed email on new jobs every morning which saves me hours of work. I am sure me a numerous others constantly look through your listings without any thanks or praise. Whilst it may be thankless it is not unnoticed. I wonder how many edugeekers have found jobs through your hard work. I certainly have. Thanks very much again and I am sure we all hope for your return! X
  24. Very true!
  25. Cheers that's really useful. Any idea how I can jazz the look of the stats up. Currently I have: { "recentPagesCount" : 1168, "comment" : "The number of pages printed in the last 240 minutes." }
