I use a Dbattach script to create a backup for the SIMS database each evening and use @matt40k 's tidy backup utility to zip and shrink these down. By using the Dbattach routine the passwords are passed to the Sims database as part of the process. I have not had any problems with recovering data either live at school request or into the test datacentre as a part of our DR testing.

Agree with all the above Simple to move (just in case you haven't seen this) with a .txt file called datafolder in the "all users\application data\fsm\version3" with the text drive name\folder name and it will copy the data to a server location
