About GreenICT

  1. Thanks, now worked out what it's doing (but not why!). It appears that the individual sheets that were open were maximised and were hiding the menu/ribbon. Minimising the sheets magically reveals them! Not sure why it's maximising over the top of the ribbon, but at least we can now work with it. Bit more investigation may be required!
  2. Hi, Bizaare problem - Excel (2010) on a machine has lost its ribbon & menu (and is hence virtually unusable!). I have tried the solutions I have found Googling (incl uninstalling & re-installing - rebbot between) to no avail. Very starngely after reinstalling the menu/ribbon were STILL not there! Anyone got any bright ideas. Getting desperate now as it's preventing office doing daily calculations etc for dinner money transactions!!
  3. Getting error starting an ASP page: ADODB.Connection error '800a0e7a' Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed. /dinners/index.asp, line 44 Line referred to is: objconn.open session("strconn") Following lines (if this helps!)are: set objRS = server.createobject("ADODB.recordset") set objRS.activeconnection = objConn This has been moved from a 32bit Windows 2003 server to a 64bit one. All the suggestions I've found anywhere don't seem to work (Some turned out to be for IIS 7). ANY suggestions appreciated as I'm no expert on IIS and ASP (rather a novice in fact!!)
  4. OK, I have uninstalled (yet again!) and reinstalled after creating a new ID - hey presto -t it works fine! Thanks for all your suggestions. It would be helpful during the install to say you need a different account rather than just giving a warning to say they don't recommend installing on a DC!
  5. If this means anything - this is the error at the end of the Install:- TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Setup ------------------------------ The following error has occurred: The specified user group 'SQLServerMSSQLUser$server1$MSSQLSERVER' does not exist. For help, click: Source: ID: ( ) - Events And Errors Message Center: Message Details THIS LINK JUST SAYS THERE'S NO INFORMATION!!
  6. OK, I've just removed every vestage of SQL Server and am re-installing. It gets all the way thru without any problems says all installations rules passed but then falls on it's face! I will wait for this install to finish and if it's still not working will try again with your suggestion. Many thanks for your time and help!
  7. Yes, I have given domain\account and password
  8. Oops, sorry posted that last reply without answering about when the error occurred: Error occurred after but the install reported errors, most of which were fixed by doing the repairs via Add/Remove programs. Running it as domain administrator account
  9. It's running on a DC (we've no choice at the moment!) All MS updates are applied and I've checked the installation requirements and as far as I can see we have all hardware & software requirements.
  10. I have to move SIMS and have successfully got SIMS installed on new server but cannot get MSSQL Server 2008 x64 to install. I am running Win 2003 R2 64bit on the server. All posts I can find on here or elsewhere don't seem to help! I managed to remove most problems by running a repair several times via Control Panel Add/remove Programs but end up with actual SQL Server not starting with this error: The credentials you provided for the Integration Services service are invalid. To continue, provide a valid account and password for the Integration Services service. Also get SQL Server Error Code: 17058 - again googling that hasn't provided any solution that helps! Have tried reinstalling SQL 2008 as I found one post that says to not let it autorun but to right click & run as administrator - made not a jot of difference! Where the h3ll do you provide an account & password for that??? BTW, I'm no expert in SQL server - just know the very basic fundamentals!! Also, not very familiar with SIMS for that matter - only been in this environment since after Oct half term - was in IBM previously! I need to fix this VERY URGENTLY as we have to trash our current server in a few days as it's been potentially contaminated with asbestos!! (Long story!)
  11. I guess it feels like we go through technicians quickly (4 in 8 years). In reality three of the technicians secured promotions elsewhere and were sad to leave and one retired. I think we are a good employer but being a junior with 1 tech position cannot offer much progression. As we are a Foundation school we do not buy in to LA support and have up to now not found this to be a major issue. If no-one can offer any thoughts I will contact a local secondary with whom I have some good contacts with and see if any of their techs wants a bit of overtime. They don't usually turn me down! Regards, Matthew
  12. Help, We are currently without a technician (interviewing Monday). I am an ICT teacher at a Junior School with a fair bit of server (MS and Linux) experience. I have done sims updates many times before as we seem to go through technicians quickly. Anyway i downloaded the Nov update today and was in the process of installing when the upgrade stopped with some warning (sorry did not make a note). Anyway I cannot now log in to sims or solus and get reason:6 and the system does not let me in. On the capita website http://support.capitaes.co.uk/websupport/RenderXSL.aspx?KB=KB73419.xml&from=HotTopics It tells me to detach and then re-attach the database. http://support.capitaes.co.uk/websupport/RenderXSL.aspx?KB=KB23423 I would like some help on how to do this please. I can get DBAttatch up and connect using the SA log in. The part in the second link I am most stuck on is in brackets and upper case on the second link. Anyone offer any help with this please? Regards, Matthew
  13. Hi there, Many thanks everyone for your support and advice. I think I will wait for to see if the March release appears when 'released' by the Local Authority (West Sussex). I haven't had the email from them yet. It should then appear I guess. I am still mystified why the February release does not appear though. Regards, Matthew
  14. Hello, I am just getting around to the February release. Unfortunately being a teacher as well means I can only do updates during holidays. When running SOLUS no upgrades show up. I was expecting the Feb and possibly the March as well. The last updates I did were in December and was the November release. Currently: SOLUS version 2.14 and Sims version 7.980 build 17 Databse build 3.61.408 Unfortunately my school does not buy in to the Local authorities SIMS support. Any thoughts anyone? Thanks. Matthew
  15. Thank you all for your replies. I checked out the capita website for the knowledge base article and found it (KB29316). I followed the instuctions for creating the user and then copied their batch file. All worked fine. Still not sure if the problem was with the user or the batch file itself, but anyway I'm happy as I've got a working backup!
