  1. Yuo don't need to detach the database using dbattach. simply use the built in backup process via a command line script. I also use the exellent sims tidy routine created by @matt40k to keep the size down

  8. I would take up the tiles, and then if going onto floorboards I would use marine Ply sheeting (ideally at least 6mm thick) screwed down evenly. Make sure you get the right adhesive (designed for wood_ and then lay your tiles. I am currently doing this and have layed the ply and fixed. Will be doing all the tiling next week

  10. That is a process to trigger the backup of an application without the need to shut it down. It uses VSS to complete the task. As to the need it depends on how you manage your sims data, your sims patching and your sims backups. I practise it should allow the backup to run witout needing to shut any services and therefore will allow you to recover sims from the point of backup if you ever need to.

  14. I would go to 16 GB ram and what HDD's are you planning to use?
  15. Print out the register for each class and laminate it. Take the register online and then at a specific time print out the list of missing pupils and maintain this list offline as pupils arrive late. In the event of a fire the teachers take their laminates out and mark children that are present and then report to the fire officer to confirm any missing marks against the ecntral missing pupils list.

  23. you can upgrade the client using the command line installers easily but will need to do a mnual upgrade on the server. All of my schools upgrade the client from a login script
  24. are you talking about upgrading the client or upgrading the server??
