About DO1

  1. this is very similar to the way we've configured our guest network with the Ruckus ZD. Do you have SSL-DPI enabled?
  2. Hi All We are an FE College using a combination of an SonicWALL NSA5600 firewall and the web filtering module within Sophos AV to provide filtering on our Windows network. As we are seeing an increasing use of SSL, we are now considering the use of SSL-DPI to monitor encrypted communications. Our primary motivation is to improve security and monitoring of web use on managed and unmanaged (guest) devices and ensure we can properly block malicious/undesirable content. Has anyone done something similar, and if you have, what issues did you encounter? I’m also keen to hear what the community are doing with their firewall and monitoring systems in general and how they communicate this out to users (those who complain about privacy violations, etc). hope you can help cheers!
  3. What kind of issues were you have with OPSmartDesk?
  4. Are you using spiceworks on prem? In the past when we played around with spiceworks network scans we found that on a well resourced server it would periodically fail; there were frequent error msgs about being unable to process further requests. This and the embedded advertising kind of put us off...
  5. Hi all Our network and support requirements have grown to the point where spreadsheets and a shared Outlook mailbox have made the helpdesk and IT support activities borderline unmanageable. We also have an on-going issue with staff who continue to phone/email all technicians personally and then get three responses to the same problem… Therefore, we are now looking at IT Helpdesk management platforms and would love to know what the community think we should be considering. We have looked at both OP SmartDesk and ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus based on forum posts on this site and like the simplicity of the former and features of latter. We don’t adhere to any kind of support framework such as ITIL, however I can see something like this being utilised in the near future. All options are on the in table (paid and free) I am also keen to find out if the community are managing their service desks on premise or cloud hosted and what you feel are the pros and cons of both. Hope you can help
  6. ADFS is an option but we'd like something with the least amount of administrative burden and/or complexity, hence we are using DirSync over fed services. Are there any articles or install guides for Moodle and ADFS?
  7. Yes already looked at this, but have also noticed third party SSO application portals that facilitate access to various services you may have provisioned, e.g. YouID by Impero Software.
  8. Hi all, We’re a college looking at single sign on options for various on-campus application such as our virtual learning environment (Moodle). At present we have unique logins to each service and there is increasing demand for a single login to all resources we provision. I was just wondering what SSO tech/options people would recommend or have had success with? We use Active Directory (2012r2) as our on premise authentication server and synchronise with Office365 with DirSync to provision email, web storage, for students and staff. Any input or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Hello all Has anyone found a way to successfully filter Google search results (over SSL) in MS Forefront TMG? A quick Google search has suggested forcing clients down the non-ssl route (nosslsearch.google.com) and all the problems that go with that (we're running Server 2008r2 domain). Very little mention of solutions within MS TMG What are organisations doing to filter SSL search results, particularly image searches? Cheers for any input
