Couple of Clocks, the alarm clock and the Boiler. The cooker never got changed when the clocks went forward so is now telling the right time

and now we are up to 4 members. Given the size of edugeeks I am quite suprised that we don't have at least enough for a football team. In fact we couldn't even form a 5 a side team yet. Come on Geekers this is a great chance to help a very noble cause.

Standalone Windows Update for 2008
Mcshammer_dj replied to AJWhite1970's topic in Windows Server 2008
Agreed, and I have used on DC's with no problems. Will fit onto a usb stick as required. I had a stick for 32 bit and a stick for 64 bit machines -
Look at what you are planning to virtulise and what will work as well. If you are going down the appliance route for security there are some suppliers who will only support specific models. i.e. Sophos Web Appiances can only be virtulised on VMware

I will be very disappointed if we dont have more entries and raise a sizable amount. Guys don't worry if you feel that growing a tash is beyond you as this is not so much a fashion statement as a statement of support for all people affected by Cancer, by Mental Health issues and general Health issues. I myself have suffered loss and worry over the years with Family and friends always knowing that selfless donations and support from groups like this will make a difference. I will grow a tash and suffer the itching, the ridicule, the looks and the ultimate irritation of the missus who hate Facial hair. I will change the styles as the month goes on and even offer to allow the good people of edugeek to select a style for the last day (and anything goes).

and then there were 3

I ussually do this as a family but my brothers are busy this year so I will happily sign up for an edugeeks movember group.

Found this on the Symantec site: As an update Symantec have found two conditions relating to compression in BE 2012 1) is Do not use the compression setting "Hardware if Available otherwise Software" which is already mentioned in this thread. We are working on a fix for this but for now use "Hardware if available otherwise none" 2) is the Admin console displays the compression as 1:1 - this appears to be a cosmetic/display issue a full backup of a known set of datat to tape as an overwrite and then compare byte count of data set with amount used on tape youw ill find compression has taken place. Agsin we are working on a solution to this. Of course there may still be an unidentified cause out there so please log cases if the above information does not solve your issue

That is not bad, remembering that the overhead will mean that a reported dataspace will not be the full 1.5TB (uncompressed) and that the data may not all be compressable etc you are gettings quite a good level. When you look at the compresion ratios the best option is the reported 2:1 , and the worst will be 1:1. In my experience the amount I have tended to see with tape compression tends to be nearer 1.2:1 if you are lucky
-
So when you run a backup how much are you able to get onto each tape
-
I mean the data you are backing up. Are there any restrictions on these drives. It may be that the system is simply not able to compress the data. Of interest what amount of data are you able to backup
-
and is the data on drives that have either compression or anything like that on them.
-
I would take a look at the excellent utility written by @matt40k Tidybackups allows you to configure a sql backup and manage them to be deleted after a specified amount of time.
-
yes you most certainly can but take care as to how much you delete
-
What is the OS of the server and is the data on a drive that is already compressed

Just been on a one in a lifetime Holiday Never again

I bought an alcoholic Ginger beer yesterday he wasn't at all happy

check the port settings
-
We use @matt40k 's utility with no problems at all. Very easy to configure and simple to use

great to see the "lower" teams punching above their weight.

Agreed this has been done before I saw it on an american film starring american actors with an big american band doing the soundtrack. Therefore it must be true!!!! -
Now that is the way forward. Not sure Mrs Mcshammer_dj would be to pleased if I got one. Imagine the challenge of Football, bbq and a crate

Right handed here, had to use my left hand for a term when I was at school and Broke my arm. Different story however when it comes to football where I am left footed (Do you supose being Left or Right Handed affects goalkeepers)
