check other policies and the order that they apply. I have just done this on all 60 of my Domains, set by user and I had to check that there were no other policies that had settings applied

the .bak file not copy the passwords as they are now stored in the master of the SQL server. There is a routine you can, and should run which will copy the passwords. The other way is to create a backup using dbattach of the database and then extract the .bak file from within the zip file and dbattach using the /restoreui switch

agree with Ric on the proccessors(especially if you are installing full blown SQL server) Why not Server 2008? Assume that you are going to 64bit server?

Are the hard drives on your system Raided? How are you backing the data up? How are you distrubuting software? How are you controlling individual access againg group access? All things that can be considered when talking about a server. It is also worth noting that prices are not high for Servers in school. Hardware would be around £1500 for a goodish server with a backup solution. Licenses should be around £50-70, with CALS @ £4-5

We have schools with Launcher for some of the historical data that was not converted to SQL. All our site still have the wssetup folder in the SIMS share. This has all the files to allow Launcher to be configured

Test this out by trying to access SIMS by only using pulsar. The problems we normally find are linked to the speed of the network and the load placed by Simsload.exe, and the way that most AV's will scan each of the upgrade files in the setups folder

have you tried do this with a disk such as a music disk in the drive??

try putting a disk of any type into the disk drive, and then run pulsar

This is ussually caused by the upgrade failing. It deletes files such a simsload.exe and then fails. Simply fix would be to run simsapplicationsetup.exe from the central setups folder on the machine in question. This will copy all the correct files back into place

sounds like a problem with the lamda sensor, which detects the mix levels on idle. A cable may be disconnected
