We do have NetScaler VPX, and I have tried publishing it via that. Just about all of 3Sys does work, apart from the TinyMCE editor which never appears. At the moment we are only running version 10.5 of the NetScaler, I am looking to upgrade that to version 11 which includes the new Unified Gateway to see if that offers any better support.

We are looking to allow access to 3Sys externally. At the moment we are allowing access remotely through Citrix. However it would be useful to allow access natively through the browser. I have been told by WCBS that I can do this one of two ways: Allow ports 80 & 443 access directly to the 3Sys server on the internal network Install 3Sys on a server in the DMZ, however that server has to be a member of the domain to allow you to logon to 3Sys with domain credentials. Both of these methods are against best practices regarding security. Anyone else publishing 3Sys in a different way? Possibly using reverse proxies? Thanks

Hi All We currently have 2 PaloAlto PA-500 Firewall appliances. The other day we discovered if you use Opera Web Browser and switch on 'Off-Road' mode it bypasses any filtering. Looking at the monitor logs it simply shows up as 'Web-Browsing' to Amazon Cloud Services. I then discovered if you use the latest version of Chrome on a mobile device, you can switch on 'Data Compression' and that too bypasses all filtering. I have logged a call with PaloAlto and they are looking into this. Slightly surprised that they have not already seen this. Anyone else discovered this? If so have you got a work around? Thanks Tom

[sims] SIMSApplicationSetup.exe Hangs on Silent Install
Taunton81 replied to Taunton81's topic in MIS Systems
Yeah, I've put 'Change user /install' as part of the script when installing to put the server into install mode. There are no users on the server. Get the same problem if I try and upgrade and existing install or I do a brand new install. -

I've just tired the same thing on a Windows XP machine and the install completes fine and the process stops. Tried it on several Windows Servers and for some reason it doesn't stop. Anyone got any other suggestions? -
[sims] SIMSApplicationSetup.exe Hangs on Silent Install

I've just re-run the setup and it says it completes successfully and you click close. However... 'SIMSApplicationSetup.exe *32' process is still running! Very Odd! -
Morning All I'm attempting to do a silent install of SIMS.net on a Windows 2008R2 Server used as a Terminal Server / Citrix. The SIMSApplicationSetup.exe program appears to run, it creates the SIMS.net folder and copies over 1000 files in there, however that's it it just hangs there and you can see it in Task Manager. Even if I leave it for a few hours it's still running. I'm running the silent install using the following provided by Capita: start /wait s:\sims\setups\simsapplicationsetup.exe /S {QuietMode} [sIMSDirectory]="S:\SIMS" [sIMSDotNetDirectory]="C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMS\SIMS .net" I can't see anything in any logs etc. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks Tom

Hi All Been having a complete nightmare with regard to the latest SIMS.net upgrade. To cut a very long story short the new version of SOLUS3 doesn't support SQL Clusters in the slightest, the previous version wasn't too bad. So I went to install the latest update via SOLUS2 as directed by Capita support on Friday. Went to do that this morning and it would appear that the NOVASATELLITTE.exe files are missing off the Capita server and I get a 404 Not Found error while trying to download the update. So I gave up with SOLUS and went and downloaded the ISO. I upgraded one of our SIMS Databases and did the workstations and it was fine. However after doing our second SIMS database as soon as you try and logon it errors with: Fault Code: 8489-8079-6000 Item has already been added. Key in dictionary: 'V' Key being added: 'V' : System.ArgumentException You then just get thrown out. I'm assuming that a previous patch has added something that the upgrade is now also trying to do?! Anyone else seen this error? Looks like an urgent call to Capita as soon as they open tomorrow. I did try restoring the backup and re-running the upgrade and got the same result. Cheers Tom

[sims] SIMS & Discover on SQL 2008R2 Cluster Not Supported by Capita?
Taunton81 replied to Taunton81's topic in MIS Systems
I am glad that you are now supporting SQL Clusters, however you may want to make your support desk aware of that! Here are two emails in which I was told that you were not supporting it: Hi Tom, Just been to development and they have confirmed that I have miss informed you. We do not support SQL server in cluster mode. It has been known to work for some schools but officially it is not supported. I apologise for the mis-direction Many Thanks, Second Tier IT Technical Engineer Chelmsford Service Desk Second E-mail: Hi Tom, As I have said before SQL server 2008 R2 in cluster mode is not supported. However, I am willing to remote into the environment and do as much as I can. Be advised that, if the issue is unresolved I am unable to escalate the issue to development simply because of the unsupported product. I will contact you at 12:45pm. Many Thanks, Second Tier IT Technical Engineer Chelmsford Service Desk I have removed the name of the Capita representative and case number, however I can forward all the details on to you Phil if you would like. Thanks Tom -
