    55 schools admin networks each with at least 1 server and 5 workstations, 2 printers per site and SIMS in each school Me to manage the servers etc and 1 Tech 2 days a week to help!

    I have a virgin cable connection and use a xycel router with built in powerline. This happily supports all my Laptops (5) and my Wii wirelessly 2 printers (wireless and my NAS (hard wired). I can also connect other devices using 200av powerline blocks which allow me to open the wired network up around the house.

    out of interest how many servers are you wanting to monitor?

    we use a system that sets parameters within our monitoring solution and Emails the details to the correct team.

    Mine appeared to be a bit scrunched up which makes me look fatter, but that's no real problem as that is happening in real life as well....

    what was the old server Os and what is the new one? When moving to 2008 you will need to check the firewall as sims does not always use the standard SQl ports .

    copy the client from the server(C:\program files\sims\sims .net) to one of the clients and then try to open sims

    you should be able to install Office for staff home use as microsoft do allow for a licence to be used at home by staff members. Open office is also worth looking at

    try using an IP address for the DNS_nameservers

    The folder will always stay when you delete as the data files are not deleted when you remove an SQL server.

    generally need to shave twice a day if going out in the evening but always used to have beard so tend to leave it until I get nagged. I do the same with my hair which is currently "in need of a tidy up" On that note how many slightly long haired members get told that "you need to cut your hair to let it grow long!"
