As long as you configure the access levels correctly you can run the Docstorage on any machine you want to. There is no reason, exept for simplicity, why you can't setup SIMS to run with all parts on different servers

We have schools that use this for all the elements that you are talking about and are more than happy. The product is relativly easy to setup and the reports certainly appeared to meet the demands of an auditing team. When we had a demo of SIMS dinner money most of the tucasi schools wanted to stay with Tucasi and put up with the need to run 2 different systems as the ability to use it for more than just dinner money was too appealing. Only downside can be the need to be sure that any address changes in SIMS are replicated across for Billing and the setup is a bit clunky!!

check the location of the setups etc. This is found in the sims.ini in the local WIndows directory. Equally try starting SIMS using just pulsar.exe

YOu would normally need to run the wssetup section on the machine to allow the 16 bit software to work. This will not fix the problem however as Microsoft have withdrawn support for for the BDE elements which the version 6 modules will need to work. Capita will only offer support 6 months after a product has been released

where are you plugging the headphones in to? Are you saying that you have speakers plugged in at the back and are using the front mounted headphone socket??

Thats not a bad price for the kit. I agree with what others are saying about the spec. For a school with 60 users and 900 pupils this is a very high spec server With Server 2008 64bit installed this would quite easily run terminal server application delivery for all the staff and then some.

you could use terminal services from the admin network to allow teachers full access to sims and additional information as required.

In my experience compression rate will suck unless you are only storing word docs etc. Mucis files, files and other files will not compress.
