No reply to completed website contact form and then a phone call to query why nobody had contacted me, to have an apology and a promise of a call today but guess what, no call. I'm guessing they are busy but not a great first impression!

True but you can backup to any type local disk, which can work out very cost-effective. Boxafe is good though and license free. Synology do a similar app called Active Backup. - - - Updated - - - Locally. Initial backup takes forever but then incremental backups after that

+1 for Cubebackup. Very cost effective too, only $2 per user per year for education

We're using Senso for our 1:1 Chromebooks, onsite and offsite. Works pretty well and has modules for filtering and safeguarding, with critical alerts sent immediately to DSLs.

We've just invested in a Poly Studio USB bar for our conference room. First impressions are excellent and it works with all the major players such as Teams, Zoom, Google Meet etc. We paid around £815 for it and it call be placed on the desk or wall mounted. Camera tracking and acoustic fencing (cutting out noise outside of the set area) seem to work well. Hi all, Is anyone here syncing from SIMS to Google Classroom with SIMS ID/SIMS ID Lite? I've seen lots of threads re Salamander etc but it looks like SIMS ID might do it for for free. Would be grateful for anybody's feedback on how well this works (or not). Thanks

We've had this when the local storage has been full or close to full. A powerwash sorted things out for us.

Nothing on-site, other than a need to retain a basic Exchange Server for management, as we use Azure Ad Connect to sync. I'm sure I read somewhere that we still need to allow incoming https to the on-prem Exchange but I can't seem to find any definitive advice on it.

Hi All, We've successfully migrated all our Exchange 2016 Mailboxes to Exchange online, using hybrid. Our mx records point to O365. We will be changing our DNS autodiscover records to O365 in the next few days. Once this is done, are they any requirements to publish our existing Exchange Server via our Firewall? I've read somewhere that basic https access is required but any advice would be appreciated.

Doesn't help with your Teams setup but in Zoom (at least with an education account), you can set up meetings to require participants to be authorised users, so they have to authenticate with their school Azure/Google account before they can access the meeting. This doesn't require them to have Zoom accounts.

Hi all, Is anyone yet using the new Firefly parent evening booking and video conferencing system, which is part of their new parent portal? It was only launched towards the end of last year but having already invested in Firefly, it would make sense for us to consider this if it works well. Any feedback welcomed. The Google Creativity App bundle is really interesting to me. We're looking at how Chromebooks can be used in the classroom to enhance teaching and learning and WeVideo was one product we looked at and seemed the only true Chromebook video editor aimed at education. Some of the other apps such as Explain Everything look fantastic too and perfect for classroom collaboration.

Hi all, We're looking at the possibility of introducing 1:1 Chromebooks in September for our Senior School students. I'm looking at how we provide web filtering/monitoring when they use them off site/at home. I'm aware of Securly's free web filtering Chrome extension which looks promising and have also seen Bark for Schools, which looks good, although somewhat US focused but I wondered if anyone had experience of using these in the wild, or if anyone had any other recommendations, guidelines etc? I can only go off our experience with Casio, maybe we've just been lucky!!

We've used Casio LED projectors here for a number of years, without a single issue. So much better than lamp projectors, no maintenance, little heat, near instant on/off. Touchscreen TVs are obviously the future but if your budget doesn't stretch that far, lampless projectors are a great option.

We've found that it's sometimes a dodgy faceplate connection. As @thimon suggests, try a cable direct from a (different) laptop to the projector and check again.

Thanks for this. I've seen this elsewhere but assumed it only applied for SOLUS 3 but I'll add the rules in and see how it affects SIMS Document Server.

Could anyone shed any light on what exceptions are required on Windows Firewall, to allow SIMS Document Server to work? When I set it to the default settings, to block incoming connections other than those in the approved list, any SIMS client can't then connect to the Document Server, even though port 8080 is allowed, as is the SIMS Document Server Service.
