    Hmmm...well...good battery life, slightly bigger screen than the 10" ones, decent speed, good wireless card that won't cause us any problems, capable of playing smooth flash content, child and adult-friendly keys (not too small). They don't need to be TOO rugged because they're mainly going to be in the same place when they're being used.

    Hi folks, Just a little mention (and question actually)... is it common to be contacted by companies who use this forum? I was recently contacted by Virtue Technologies who said they have been reading this thread and are requesting to come into our school to help. I said they could but i just wondered whether it was an accepted means of contacting members of the forum...

    I've been considering upgrading our school to Windows 7 (we're currently running ALL XP machines with Windows Server 2003)... Does anyone know roughly how much it would cost to do all this? We have about 100 machines and 1 server. Also- is it pretty straightforward to do and are there any time-saving / data-saving tips?

    Hi, I recently discovered that some of the new PC's at our school are not picking up group policy settings. Well I worked out why... The building they are in is seperate from the main building with the switch and whoever designed our network has used ethernet cables to link them rather than fibre optic cable. Even though I see this as a possible culprit for a mega slow network connection I also suspect that there may be too much traffic for our 10/100 network. I am considering upgrading to 10/100/1000 but i need some advice on this please as I have never done this before and don't know if it will solve the problem. What advice could you give on upgrading?? Would I need to upgrade ALL our 10/100 switches or just a few? We have about 8...

    Hello! Just picking up this thread- I'm looking for some text driven games (Like Crystal Rainforest, Granny's Garden) that the kids can play here at out primary school. Most multiplayer LAN games seem to be shooters or racers (The kids LOVE Cube II and Paintball 2) They also play bitfighter. But I'm looking for something to get their brains going a bit with things they have to read... Anything out there?

    I've been trying to install Crazy Talk but it keeps throwing a server error at me! Does anybody know if lancsngfl have blocked the ip address for the Crazy Talk server?? If this is the case...then i'm going to need to know the IP of the validation server so i can install the program. Anyone else experienced this?

    Nice one. What i've done is set the redirect my documents policy. Are there any settings in particular that need to be there? Do I need to turn on the 'move the contents of my documents to the new location'? Hope i'm not being a pain!

    Hi Nixphoe, Does this mean that it will sync with the server when it is available? When they log on at school? Meaning all the work they did at home...is transferred to the server automatically?

    Take a look at our website if you like? I've designed all the graphics for it and suggested the layout- which the company just went ahead and did. It's a fantastic system where you can assign users to specific pages, manage drafts of pages, create time sensitive content... Media, google content etc..etc... it's the biz It's just like using Word in a lot of respects, has its own file manager and media storage... the list goes on!!     Hi I need a little help and advice. We have some networked fizzbooks for our students (Primary School). I want the children to be able to take them home, log on, do their work, save it, log off bring them in to school and when they log on to the network all the work they did on the laptop is synchronised with the school server... All the users have the same logon username and password. Is there a way for the children to be able to log onto the fizzbook under the school domain, at home, even when the domain isn't available? Hope this makes sense! Jay

    Well it's for the kids so i don't think they'll be bothered- i'm more interested in the point and click, puzzles, humour and adventure element! But i've just encountered a problem: Just bought the game from 'Steam' which i've never used before and it seems i can't use it in school!! Nightmare proxy filters!!     Hi everyone! I'm trying to get hold of a few copies of 'The Curse of Monkey Island' for one of our clubs here in our Primary school. I remember playing it when I was about 8 years old and TOTALLY loved it, it stretched my puzzle solving skills, entertained me and i had fun at the same time. Does anyone know where we can get hold of it?? If not then any other puzzle / text / adventure games for the kids would be greatly received Jay xxx

    Hello, I've installed suitable codecs for the cam. You can open the MP4 video on the PC but when i check the box for using the codec in the options in WMM- it still doesn't work. We're using SD ones too so i didn't think it would be a problem. YikeS!! Any other advice??

    Laserblazer, I've tried importing the video into that and it won't let me! Totally baffled me... could it be an old version of Moviemaker perhaps? It just doesn't recognise the MP4 format...
