  1. They tend to be sensible and give some sort of 7 days grace so you should be OK.
  2. I've often bought mine from RJ45, RJ45 Patch Leads, RJ45 Cables, Cat 6 Cable in the past.
  3. Ours is virtualisd with 8gig of RAM and I see high loads with 30 - 40 users on but it seems to be fine with 2 like you mentioned.
  4. Im sure theres a fix on the Games Maker forum on their website. It's certainly permission based and after giving access rights to a specific location, I managed to get it working. It seems to be an error that quite a few people have faced.
  5. We use Firstclass but as the standard mail server. I think it has evolved a bit over the last few years as a VLE. Not sure I can see the similarities though.
  6. Slightly off topic - but I am interested in the thinking of moving from desktops to laptops in the first instance?
  7. I bought the macbook air brand new a year or two ago and love it - finding I now use it more than my iMac now. If you are looking at paying £600 for it, you may be better going down a finance option with apple - you'll obvious end up spending more but you will be able to spread the costs and it will give you a far superior spec.
  8. We just use a simple database with a web front end that was knocked up by a previous technician. We also use Spiceworks for monitoring but not assett registering. As soon as new kit is bought in, it goes straight into our stock book - it's much easier doing it this way then walking the school each year and collecting all the information.
  9. We used to have loads of problems with Movie Maker back in the day. We now use Adobe Premiere Elements and Magix Movie maker.... and have equally as many problems if not more. None of them seem to play nicely on networks.
  10. Speak to @bossman I am sure he set something similar up at his place.
  11. Same here - anything and everything goes in our box. We possibly don't get paid for them, but they get taken off my hands - what they choose to do with them once they get them, thats up to them )
  12. Will investigate this tomorrow - it's been on my todo list to look at for a while. Thanks
  13. Sorted for you.
  14. We are using iPADs and AppleTV here on a smaller scale and it has crossed my mind that this could be an ideal IWB replacement. We have over 40 IWB's installed across the school and if I am totally honest, no matter how much training we have provided they do still get used as expensive blackboards and have since just installed projectors into our other 30 classrooms. If we were to rip out all of our IWB's this weekend, I don't think we would have that big of a revolt by staff other than the occasional one or two.
  15. Our students have the option of Photoshop or Fireworks - most choose Photoshop. Our staff have the option of Photoshop or Fireworks - most choose Fireworks. It's only really as complicated as you want it to be, if the students are shown how to use it they will take to it relatively quickly. I do agree however, it is a steep learning curve if you are wanting to do more than just the basics. I guess you have got to look at what is required in the schemes of work and work out whether it is going to be cost effective to purchase something like CS5 if the majority of the features are not going to be used. We tend to use it here in a lot of lessons other than just ICT - Graphics, Media, Art etc.
  16. Lets hope ive misplaced the disk!
  17. I couldn't get it to work here on Windows 7. Awful bit of software anyway, so I am pretty glad haha )
  18. As above we hang around until the tests start then leave - generally they behave and just work. I do think theres a mention of technical support required on the overview of the exam but not sure if this means to sit throughout the whole exam.
  19. We are upgrading in the summer but our Macomedia MX Studio 2004 is still playing nicely on our Windows 7 workstations here.
  20. Schoolcomms has an automated procedure which works well from our tests - not sure if its had a full release yet.
  21. We use SLG and are happy with it, but if we didn't I would go with TASC also.
  22. Other than the occasional crash with the students using some dodgy VST's saving back to the network is generally fine for us. I imagine the infrastructure and age of the workstations and network are key for us however.
  23. Help Desk Software, Live Chat Software and Customer Service Software for us, but its probably slightly overkill for what you need. Other people have quoted free helpdesks which may suit your needs better.
  24. We don't allow for KS3 and KS4 but allow for KS5 students similar to youtube etc.
  25. 2008R2 throughout here, but will not be making wholesale changes to Server 8 when released and will migrate as and when required.
