no, I don't have any security here, but the walls are thicker than the teachers, and there are no houses nearby anyway!

I understand why the little blighter aren't getting the ip address, I just wondered if anyone else had the problem, and what they did about it!

I've just got one of these 19" acer widescreen, and they are fantastic value, only £154 for a 19" would be a bargin, but widescreen to boot! I have this monitor at home, and I'm really impressed. Obviously it's massive, but the image quality is very good, and the pixel response time is 8ms!

We have a loads of laptops, some Dells with built in wifi, and some others with wifi cards. None of them pickup and ip address by DHCP. is anyone else having this problem, is everyone giving laptops static ip's?

can you not get the laptop to boot from a networked drive?
-
the way I undersand it, you can have a 4gb stick, but the maximum size of a single file is 2gb

I'm a bit concerned about the girl at the bottom with the cable cutters. Still, apart from that, there's some nice equipment on display! -
have you not encrypted the wifi?
-
but if you bring internet explorer in on a flash pen, then you can still get on the internet can't you? I'd use it sparingly, or the kids will figure out how to get round it!

not too sure about the PSU, who sell computer with a psu @ 200 watts these days!

I has the same, but not only is there no website, you can't get a contact number, and even a return address is nearly impossible. I think it was the same person, mine was called Laura too, and yes, she was Irish, with other nationalities thrown in. Can we convince her to come to the EduGeek conference, then she can buy us all dinner / drinks!!

Actually I hate flash, but then I haven't had time, or seen a decent book about action scripting! -

I think those who are rubbishing Dreamweaver, probably don't know it that well. There is a good reason why it's so expensive, and why it is the most popular web design tool! I've edited code in dreamweaver, and never had it go wrong, add to that the rest of the studio package, and you've got an alarming amount of power. I'm sure you could code a website in notepad, but it would take a lot longer than using dreamweaver. Plus can you write "flash" in notepad. I bet you can, but heck... would you want to!! At my last school, the 6th form came up with a fantastic wesite that allowed you to book tickets for a concert, using IIS and Dreamweaver, so if 6th formers can do it, I'm sure server side codeing in Dreamweaver isn't that hard! -

I can't believe no-one has mentioned Macromedia, I personally can't live without Dreamweaver, freehand, fireworks and flash! -

I'm sure I've seen a bird house, with a webcam it. I can't remember where it was, but I seem to recall it was about £250ish. Does anyone know where I can get one from?
-
it's true, you do have to do two backups, however you could just back up the whole database! Thats what I prefered to do when I used CMIS
-
that didn't work, but I got the answer from microsoft, you have to enable propagation of inheritable permissions, and bobs your uncle! We tried this at lunch, and the kids were most upset! I don't want to overuse it though, as they'll soon figure out how to bypass it, as I did when I'd borked the internet on my laptop!
-
quite! now how do I get internet explorer back! :?
-
Thanks for that webman, I got it running by denying all "users" which seems to work fine. Totally locked myself out of internet explorer on my laptop whilst playing about with cacls though!!!
-
Hi Webman, With a little tweaking, i've got the process list to look like yours, but the internet still doesn't remain off! Any ideas please? Is there away of changing the script to point internet explorer to a null proxy?
-
I find that the "internet OFF" process only kills the current internet session, and that all you have to do is click on ie again, and you're back on the internet. Is it just me, or should the internet be turned off permanently?
-
or.... add the script to each machine at: Docs & settings All Users Start Menu Programs Startup Thats what I do for the laptop printers script!
-
I map the drives in GP, and it works fine, not a script to map the drives!
