Indie girl If your not an exams manager (and why would you be!), just create one. Then log onto the dps of an individual machine. Sorry if I was "vague" before, it was lunch, and I couldn't get onto a machine!

you need to log on, on each machine, onto the test thingy The CTRL-ALT-t Logon as a test manager. The final tab is "management" Goto updates (2nd Tab) and download the tests I found it took about 10mins per machine

from the sounds of your knowledge, it looks like too much of a big job, to be suddenly landed in your lap. Just because a computer is involved, doesn't make you an expert at it. Making a website is easy.. making a good one involves more that technical prowess, it needs design skills as well. I tell him to get the governor to do the website, since he's the expert!

Have you considered you might have a virus. I know there are some that close down the SQL server

Before I left my old school, about a year and a half ago, I completely replaced the PC's with brand new ones. Sure, they were cheap, and they looked cheap, but they were all brand new, and reasonable spec. I just read their new ofsted, and the IT dept were taken to task over the "old" computers that needed replaceing. They hadn't even checked, they just saw the beige boxes, and assumed that they were old!

The last time I was there (as a night school student), they had state of the art 386's!
