  1. again, where abouts?
  2. I agree. We're doing our own site survey using wifi laptops and access points, and there's definately not a need to have one in every room. If you do have one in every room I imagine cross-talk is going to be a problem, as you've really only got 3 or 4 distinct channels that don't interfere with each other. So...... If you've got a square ish block of 4 average sized room the frequency overlap of the channels means you're probably going to have problems. Does that make sense?

    Help!

my school paid for me to do the same course nearly 3 years ago now... i'll have a think.... continued proffessional development and investors in people came into it somewhere i think.
  4. nice pic! good man, that's what i was trying to explain. Bascially the splitter only really helps you if you can't have any more cable runs going to a location. It allows 2 network connections to share one network cable. it DOES NOT however, give you any extra capacity. i.e. if you're switch has 2 ports left, you can't use a splitter to give you 4 ports. What you need in those cases is: a) a bigger/additional switch in the same location as the current switch or shudder... b)a small (8 port of so) switch plugged into the network point in the classroom where you need the extra point. The problem with this solution is that you'll have 8 (or so) devices all sharing 1 100mb link back to the switch - that's what we call a bottle neck - v bad network design. HTH
  5. Stupid question probably, but it rang alarm bells when u said you had ordered 3 - You do know that you have to have one of these splitters at both ends right? so 2 pc's plug into 1 splitter, then that splitter is plugged into the socket on the wall - then, another splitter is plugged into the associated socket on the patch panel, and then 2 connection into the switch come out of the other side of this 2nd splitter. that way each pc has it's own switch port. did that make sense? I apologise if that was pitched to low HTH Adam
  6. I assumed it was sung by slaves, rather than about slavery.... anyone clarify?
  7. We dont currently deliver in lutterworth, but if you and a few others are in the market for half a lamb each (butchered of course), then let me know and we'll deliver.
  8. i like the sound of 3 more days holiday! that'd come in very handy... 2& is a bit naff thought, is inflation still set at 2.6%? I assume the increases in the BOE base rate are designed to keep it at that rate, but my info is a year old i fear...
  9. That'd be farming.... sheep, pigs, and recently a few ducklings for fattening for xmas... Tomorrow night i'll be delivering a batch of our free-range spring lambs around leicestershire...
  10. i'm not sure they are a standard metric screw size. i they're in between M2 and M3

  13. Apparently the one that happened here in leics saw many low paid workers wages going up, and a few going down - many staying the same.... Those who's wage went down however, apparently appealed the decision, and the majority (so i'm told) were successful in thier appeals. the reason for all the uses of 'apparently' is that i wasn't actually resident in leics back then, so it's only what i've been told...
  14. As we found out when some little scrote flicked the 230/110v switch on 6 dells when they were turned.... I recommend everyone superglues these switches in the 230v position before your little darlings figure it out...
  15. Oh, it's just happening in norfolk is it? We had the Hay Evaluation about 5 years ago in leics (apparently), so i'm assuming we're not having another one.... Do they take into account the norfolk gene puddle? you get more pay the more genetically unique you are, in comparison to the 2 bloodlines that exist on the fens? hehehe!
