About pshuttle

  1. I have been through my e-mail and unless I have accidentally deleted it, I don't have that email. We purchased direct from Bloxx themselves rather than a reseller. The rep I spoke to on the phone hinted that they had not had the time to contact everyone before the deadline.
  2. Makes me wish I checked the forums more regularly Elsie. However, surely I should have been contacted by Bloxx themselves! Don't get me wrong, it does leave me the summer to implement a new solution, but I was hoping to have at least ONE summer without a major change to our network/service. Pete
  3. Hey everyone, It has been an age since I posted on this forum. Anyway, I thought I would post this on here to see what other people's reactions/opinions are to the following situation. Personally I think it is poor business practice. Certainly. it causes a headache for me! For the last few years we have used Bloxx as our internet filtering service, with a local Bloxx web filter hosted internally. We have actually been very happy with the service, and have had only a handful of minor problems in this time. Our three year contract finishes at the end of August, and I was hoping to renew for at least another twelve months. However, I have just had a telephone call from Bloxx informing me that they have been acquired by Akamai. This means that we will not be able to continue with the product after the end date of our contract. At present they have no filtering solution to offer until the introduction of a Cloud based service sometime this coming winter. What is REALLY annoying though is that apparently, organisations have been offered the chance to extend their contract for another twelve months to cover the gap between contract end and the new service coming to market. The catch? This opportunity ended in January, but was further extended to April 16th. The first I heard about it from Bloxx? April 25th! So we have missed this chance without ever knowing it existed. Pretty annoying to say the least. I obviously asked the Bloxx representative if anything could be done as 1) We had been happy customers, 2) We were contacted too late to make use of the offer of extending our existing contract and 3) It is going to be a headache to change over to a competitor - the answer was that nothing could be done. Then, the pure cheek of it is the rep wanted to hand my details over to a Capita rep to sell me some other product. I feel pretty poorly treated here and certainly can no longer recommend Bloxx/Akamai if this is how their customers are treated. Am I being unreasonable here? Pete
  4. Awful performance once again this morning. Pete
  5. OFSTED in today. E-mail shockingly bad. Will definitely be moving to Office 365 in the summer. After that, the only thing we will be using from CLEO/One Connect will be SIMS support. Pete
  6. Bought this drive and am now running it in my PC at home. Seems rapid and very pleased with the result. However, as has been said above, the drive may fail so we will just have to see. I figured it was worth the risk for £40.
  7. Flying my foamie Christen Eagle: Learning to fly a Belt CP and nearly beheading myself at the same time: And a build drive video of one of my nitro cars:
  8. Some ace videos and great locations too. Good effort. I went through a stage a few years back of learning to fly some RC Helis and I still fly them now, albeit fairly rarely. I do regularly still fly my model planes though. I am not a member of a club or anything, I just fly them for the pleasure of it really. Pete
  9. With an iPlate, decent microfilters, rewiring/re-termination of internal extensions and careful setup of my ADSL modem I managed to up my (shocking) less than 1mb connection to 2.3mb stable.
  10. Yay - Shed Dragging
  11. Miele vacuum cleaners are great. It is definitely worth spending the money on decent quality equipment. We splashed out on a Neff oven, washing machine and dishwasher and they are all superb (the same machines are also branded Siemens and Bosch sometimes) with great build quality and performance.
  12. MBE - My Bl**dy efforts OBE - Other bug*er's efforts CBE - Covers Bl**dy everything.
  13. I love the way that if you are poorer and can only afford to run an older car, generally you will pay a higher Road Tax due to older less efficient engines as well as higher running costs. However, if you are well off and go out and buy a new, modern car, you often see reduced Road Tax due to less emissions and you also pay less in fuel duty due to having to fill up less. Totally unrecognised is the fact that manufacturing new vehicles on a mass scale is horrendous on resources and the environment - whereas getting full use of an old car is MUCH less harmful in the longer term. Generally, as a rule then, the poor once again pay more for the privilege of getting from A to B, often just to earn a living wage (and pay tax on earnings - see where I am going here?). The world does not make sense at all!
  14. That's pretty cool!
